ABC cancels "Zero Hour" after 3 episodes

Reruns of Shark Tank will replace it.
USA Today
I actually liked it, as preposterous as it was.

ABC has pulled the conspiracy thriller Zero Hour from its schedule after three low-rated broadcasts. Thursday's episode drew just 5.1 million viewers and did not fare well among advertiser-coveted young adults.
The time slot -- Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT -- has been a ratings challenge for ABC. Last Resort had a 13-episode run there earlier this season.
The remaining episodes of the Anthony Edwards drama could run in the summer, although ABC has not made a decision.
Repeats of Shark Tank will replace Hour for the next two Thursdays. The non-celebrity version of Wife Swap will then take over the time slot for seven weeks starting March 21, followed by Wipeout on May 9.

I just started watching the DVRed episodes this weekend
It's probably for the best though, it looked like they had to be headed towards some time travel angle and that never works out well.

Well all the episodes are already finished, and they said the last episode wraps up everything. So there's no reason ABC couldn't at least put the damn things on their website.

Wow but networks can't find a show anymore

maybe they need to give up on the idea that every show needs to be a huge hit when it first starts out...

They never will. And they never will learn because of that.

Guess I don't need to worry about watching that 3rd episode I have recorded.

Inspector Space Time disagrees

Everyone is trying to find the next Lost. Shows like Flash Forward, The Event, & Zero Hour are set up to get these cult followings and when they don't get it instantly, execs freak and pull the plug. I'm guess Revolution will be the next causality of the sort.

The sooner execs realize that the following that Lost got was an outlier, they will be better off for it.

Yep. I liked The River and Life On Mars. Both canned by ABC way too soon.

DAMMIT! All the shows I watch get canned way too early. Here's to hoping they at least throw it out there this summer.

You could always watch shows when they do last more than a season.
I don't watch shows unless they are at least a season old and renewed. I instituted this policy after ABC canned Last Resort. frick greedy and impatient ratings whores.

Yep. Had Seinfeld been created in this era of television it would have been canceled after the first season. TV execs do not give a show time to breathe before they pull the plug on it.

But why do they do this though?
What has changed to cause them to act this way?

I liked the river and the last resort

They can plug in a reality show in the same time slot for half the cost and achieve twice the ratings.
