Thought the Foley episode was the best one since Austin. It was much better directed and flowed better than many of the others because it really just covered his wrestling days...until the last 20 minutes or so, when it became a WWE state run TV doc. It really feels like they stepped in and forced A&E's hands there.
They wouldn't even show the chair shots from the Rock, they had to mention Mick's good deeds as a crisis counselor and then they actually named off the company's head injury program like Mick was reading his lines off a script.
Foley seems fine mentaly now, but of course he got fricked up from wrestling...we all saw his career. We all knew what would happen to him if he continued the way he did.
They also should have spent much more time on his Hell in the Cell match. It's probably the most famous/infamous match ever, due, not only to the performance, but also because of JR's calls... Which they essentially didn't even air. It's kind of a disservice to Foley how fast they breezed through that part of the doc so they could spend the final half hour doing a propoganda piece.

Thought the Bret Hart episode could have and should have easily been 3-4 hours.
There's just so much to cover in 1:30 min of actual screen time. It felt very rushed, especially compared to the Foley episode last week.
They literally covered his entire WCW career in about 20 seconds.

The should do one on the ring girls/valets.
Who was the drug addict/bimbo that was sleeping with Michaels?

That was Sunny (Tammy Sytch). She was sleeping with Shawn behind her boyfriend’s back. Michaels actually wanted her to leave her boyfriend (Chris Candido) but she turned him down. Not long after he met Whisper (his current wife) and the rest is history.

I haven't watched the Bret Hart one yet, but I have seen tons of stuff on him already so I don't expect much new information really. But it's still all pretty fascinating.
The Foley one was pretty good though.
Also, I assume most in this thread also watch Dark Side of the Ring. I watched the Grizzly Smith/Jake the Snake episode over the weekend, and man I never knew all of the evil family bullshite JtSR went through. Holy shite.

Considering how they didn't use him right, that was enough time.
I always liked Brett but he wasn't a good talker. Technically, he was great though.

That's literally about all it was worth.

The next week at TV, I was standing by the curtain watching the show, as we all usually do, and Shawn walked up behind me to look and watch over my head. As he inched closer and closer to me, I could feel his hot breath warming the hairs on the back of my neck.
“Do you feel that?” he whispered.
The “that” he was referring to was his hard di*k pressed firmly up against my as*. Oh yes, I felt it all right. Good and hard.
Instantly, I was turned on. I was moist. What red-blooded American girl wouldn’t have been when the “Heartbreak Kid” pushes his erection up against you and gives you chills with his breath?!?
I had a pretty good idea where this was going, and what his intentions were. And I was right. Later that evening he pulled me into an empty locker room and kissed me. And felt me. And groped me. And then, like a kid in high school, he f***ed me.
Yep, he banged me good, right there in the locker room.
It was so dirty and sexy and so not allowed within the crew that it made it even hotter.
Oh my God! It was mind-blowing $ex!

Did vince mcmahon say that?
LOL; not sure if serious...
I assume this quote is taken from Sunny, but I'm gonna go back and read it in Mr. McMahon's voice...

I think she's currently in prison. She was doing porn fairly recently also.
It's amazing to see what she looks like now. She was really attractive back in the day.
Didn't Candido die of some sort of blood clot in his leg or hip?

Bret Hart was a favorite of mine for his in-ring ability.
Shawn was such a Bane to his legacy, but that double turn with Austin WM says a lot. Shawn couldn't have had that kind match with Austin. He wasn't a great talker, but got better during the Canada vs USA era.
I miss those old school technical storytellers.

Sure I've heard all the stories before, but I really wish they would have spent more time on the WM13 match between Austin and Bret and how Bret helped Austin ascend to the heights he did by being his foil.
Thats probably the most authentic and technical big match I can remember. It was before Austin's neck injury, so he was still a technical badass in the ring.

I miss Vince allowing some crazy shite to roll. And I agree, Austin was never the same after Owen. Luckily he was one of the best promos of all time

I believe so. He wouldn't take time off to let it heal.
Tammy and Candido had a... complex... relationship. Shawn was far from the only guy she slept around with while together with Chris Candido. She slept around, he may or may not gotten off on her doing that, and they both got into substance abuse big time.
Things really collapsed for them after ECW folded.
Paul Heyman had talked them into using their own money to help prop up ECW and they pretty much lost everything, including their home. A real tragic ending for them.

Here’s a good run-down of the Sunny/Shawn/Candido situation. Shawn wanted Sunny to move in with him, but Sunny thought Chris would commit suicide because he was so in love with her. The Kliq members actually were trying to ruin his life and get him to kill himself; that’s how big of dicks they were. Sunny also hooked up with Davey Boy after Shawn.

Man I love reading this 90s wrestling stuff

Watched the Bret Hart one last night and really enjoyed it. It was actually pretty well done and seemed to contain viewpoints from all/everyone's angle. I like that they didn't spend too much time on any one thing (like Owen or the Screwjob). Also didn't know Bret was married to a black chick 20 years younger than him. She's pretty.
I've really enjoyed this series a lot. I hope they continue it (and can keep it interesting and not just do random, uninteresting people). I'd love to see one on the Undertaker, who seems like he's one of the most normal people ever. Also would like to see one on Sting since he was my favorite growing up. And despite the HBO doc existing, I'd love to see A&E do one on Andre the Giant if they could provide additional information than that doc.
The best part of these docs is me reliving my wrestling memories as a kid (and then again in college). Good times.

Pretty much all of the Andre docs contain the same stuff. I highly recommend his newest biography, The Eighth Wonder of the World by Bertrand Hebert and Pat Laprade. It's a true life story from the time he was born up until his death, with loads of new information and details about Andre's life. Andre was my childhood favorite and to this day is still my all-time favorite, and I had studied his life extensively, but even I learned quite a bit from that book.
