It begins April 18 with the first episode of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Other names on the list:

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart

Booker T

'Macho Man' Randy Savage

Ultimate Warrior

Mick Foley

'Rowdy' Roddy Piper

Shawn Michaels
...

Only problem I see is that WWE is probably heavily involved in the production and licensing of footage, which means they control the narrative, which isn't a good thing. That means some things will probably get glossed over that they don't want to re-live or have revealed.

I'm especially looking forward to Piper and Savage episodes. Austin (obviously) is perfect for the kickoff special.

The self-destructiveness and immaturity and egocentrical petulance of wrestlers and that business just make for some of the most compelling documentaries and retellings, whether you were even a fan or not. This should be good.

Nailed it. Would almost rather an "unauthorized" version.

Yeah, I’m sure they won’t mention Steve’s domestic violence arrests and alcoholic rumors.

Aside from personal stuff, they probably also won't give other promotions their due. Judging from that Stone Cold sneek peek, it's like his WCW days never existed. He was just The Ringmaster from the beginning.

WCW and other promotions found and discovered almost all of WWF's star talent in the 80s and 90s, but they may not have flourished until they got there, but they were still alredy in the business.

Austin and Foley and Undertaker all came from WCW. You could make a standalone episode just on how much talent WCW squandered in the late 80s and early 90s. I think Hall and Nash were both WCW at one point early in their careers as well. Michaels was a Mid-South guy.

But I guarantee if those days are even mentioned at all, WWF will get all the credit.

I want an 8-part series, without WWEs consent but with their footage.. focused on

1. Owen Hart

2. Chris Benoit

3. Vince McMahon Steroid Trial

4. Steve Austin

5. Bret Hart & Screwjob

6. Miss Elizabeth, Lex Luger, and Randy Savage

7. & 8. Toss up.

The two guys who I first think of when I think of "Attitude Era" are Steve Austin and Brian Pillman, both of whom came up in WCW. I really wish Jim Cornette would get together with somebody and do a complete documentary on Southern rasslin. The hokey WWF style was completely alien to most of the South until the 1990's. I remember listening to Cornette in a shoot talk about watching WWF tapes in the 1980's and the Southern wrestlers were laughing at how bad and unrealistic it was.

Yeah. Call it dark side of the ring. That'd be cool.

I don't have any links (I'm sure they're out there somewhere), but the gist of it is that Vince let Michaels get away with all the shite he did back in the 90s because they were secretly having an affair together.

Yes, Vince and Shawn Michaels are rumored to have been secret boy toys with one another. That's the rumor. I have no idea if it has any validity, but some people have insinuated things over the years.

Michaels was a total shitheel to everyone backstage, was pushed to the top of the card when he wasn't that big of a draw, talked shite to Vince's face, and was clearly a drug addict, but he never so much as even got a slap on the wrist, according to most stories you hear now.

A McMahon-Michaels relationship has been rumored for some time, now. When you look at the facts as laid out in your post, it seems plausible.

I may get torched for this, but I believe Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero may have been similarly linked. At the very least, I think Benoit may have secretly been in love with Eddie. There’s some weird shite in that episode of Dark Side of the Ring. Chris mourned Eddie like a man mourns a wife or lover.

Of you read between the lines enough and see enough shoot interviews with former wrestlers (many by Hall and Nash) you will get the sense that there is alot of closeted gay stuff that may have gone on behind the scenes.

Hogan has said publicly that he knew a lot of gay wrestlers back in his day (these are presumably big names that no one knows about).

Nash has also all but said The Rock is gay and Hall I think has said Vince openly admitted once to having homosexual encounters...

Take it for what it's worth. Hall is a known drug addict and alcoholic, but why would be even say that?

Shawn receives his HOF ring

That is an interesting look that Shawn gives him. The comments are turned off on this one specifically

I’ll stick with Dark Side of the Ring. Great show and it doesn’t pull any punches.

Patterson also had a crush on Shawn and was the main one who lobbied for him to be hired in the first place. The Rockers were actually fired right after they started for getting drunk and causing damage at a bar they were at, but Patterson convinced Vince to re-hire them. Patterson has tremendous influence on Vince, and I think Vince developed a man-crush of his own. In a lot of ways I think Shawn was what Vince wished he could be. Whether it ever got physical I can’t say for certain, but I wouldn’t put it past either of them.

A lot of these guys are real pieces of crap. Sometimes it’s better to not know about your childhood heroes. After listening to stories about Jake the snake, Scott Hall, Jim Cornett, , me starts to realize these people are mostly degenerates who were not great role models or decent human beings. The hitman screw job has been covered many different times. Bret is an athletic actor who took the business and his persona too seriously.

Wow! I've not seen that footage, before. That was an incredibly "gay" exchange between McMahon and Michaels, there. The looks they give one another, the tender embrace... McMahon actually kisses Michaels' neck, at one point! Vince has never been known as an emotional guy, but I've never seen him behave this way with his wife or other women. I'm convinced McMahon and Michaels had a homosexual affair, now.
