Kit would never want to win that way.
She's just going to have to accept that she wasn't good enough to beat Dottie on her own and live with that. She should have already realized that after a lifetime of being inferior to big sis though

Kit had that Parkman shimmy that makes all the women in Cleveland just wanna puke

You'd have to have poor movie comprehension skills to think it was an accident.
The writers and director of A League of Their Own: We intentionally left the ending ambigous.
Tigerdroppings: She 100% dropped it and you are retarded if you think otherwise.

She had plenty of time to drop the ball, but she held on for quite a bit. She even took that absolute trucking like a champ. She leaned into it. She is such a competitor. She seemed to be doing all she could for her team to win. I feel like her sister earned that. I see no reason for her to have some change of heart in the very last moment after competing like that.
If she dropped it on purpose she nearly risked an out call given how late it was.
There debate is funny, but there can never be a true answer. I like how Gena Davis plays along and doesn’t give any input.
I also feel if she dropped it on purpose she would not be looking at her sister the way she did with her coach right next to her. It was like she was genuinely proud of her for earning it. I feel like if she knew she dropped it on purpose she wouldn’t be so open with her emotions there.

Then why the frick did she tell the pitcher how to strike her out only to then drop the ball on purpose?
Or, why did she turn around at Yellowstone to come back to help her team win, just to shite all over them and throw the game to her bitchy ungrateful brat of a sister?

Tried to re-watch recently and couldn't finish it. I remember liking it at one time, but on the re-watch I kept thinking that it is a pile of steaming garbage.
Interesting take considering it is one of the best baseball movies of all time.

Kit would never want to win that way. It wouldn't be a gift to her sister. It would be a sign of disrespect and would be demeaning to Kit.
Exactly.
It completely invalidates every aspect of Kit's story.

I don’t remember the details. I’m not inclined to dig it up for a re-watch, so I’ll agree lol…

Avoid the clap, Jimmy Dugan.

I did a social experiment a few years ago. Older siblings side with she dropped it on purpose, younger siblings think Kit knocked it out. Only children tend to lean team Kit.

It's suppose to be hard..if it wasn't hard everyone would do it. The hard, is what makes it great.

She dropped it on purpose. The opening scene of the movie foreshadows this.
Opening scene: Her two grandkids are playing basketball outside. She calls the older one over and tells him that since he is bigger, he has to let the younger, smaller brother have turns to shoot. Then she calls the younger grandson over and tells him to "kill him" (or something like that) even though she already told the older one to let him have his chances. So, she is telling the younger sibling to try as hard as he can to compete while telling the older sibling that he is still gonna need to give the younger one chances.
Fast forward to the end of the movie. The younger sibling needs to try as hard as she can to compete (hence telling the pitcher what to throw to get her out) but then ultimately the older sibling still sometimes needs to let the younger one score.

And that’s why this movie sucks. Dottie Hinson should be one of the most reviled “protagonists” in movie history. She quits just before the finals only to come back and tank the championship just to give her sister a false sense of accomplishment, what a selfish bitch.

She up and quit on the team right before the big game just so she could get a few days head start on cooking dinner for her husband and making babies. That doesn't sound like an ultra-competitive, team-first player.
You are placing current beliefs and customs on 1940's characters. Although disappointed her teammates would understand based on the beliefs of the time.

If it was mid season, like the homely girl she got Jon Lovitz to bring for the try outs, thst got married that would be one thing, but it was literally at the start of the final series. And her husband showed up there, so she didn’t have to leave to be with him in the hospital or something. The fact they turned around so she could play shows it isn’t just “current” standards
