Besides the Iron Maiden scene, I did not like this at all.
The last one was kind of weird, but beautifully shot. The ending was interesting, but man I could have done without the first 80% of the movie.

Did you watch any of the preceding movies? Both 28 YL and Bone Temple would be confusing as hell without the context. I do appreciate that they didn't do the usual hollywood BS of shoving all the context into the first 15 minutes of the movie, and letting people sink or swim.

Just finished.
Watched them all. 1 and 3 multiple times. 2 once but I don’t dislike it.
This one was just a gigantic No from me. You could tell Alex Garland and Boyle’s hands were nowhere near from this. I don’t care if he did the screenplay,
It just wasn’t for me.
From a movie standpoint it wasn’t terrible with acting or filming but this wasn’t a zombie movie by any means. I was OK with the cult plot and thought it was well acted but it was totally removed from the universe for me. No idea who the director was
Honestly the only interesting things were Samson’s transformation and the final reveal. The rest of it was just waiting for something more to happen.
I may be the weirdo scifi fan that didnt like Project Hail Mary (I’m not) but as a fan of this series as a whole it was a 4/10.

Other than Samson and the aforementioned final scene, this is my opinion
I’m not sure I have been as disappointed in a sequel since Amazing Spiderman 2.

assuming spoilers are OK
so Kelson cured the rage virus holy shite.
and that information died with him? That can’t be the end of it…
And is Samson now immune? The infected in the bus were biting and puking all over him. That should be significant
Brilliant character in jimmy crystal. We so rarely get such a spot on reflection of real life evil in the movies. If you don’t know the story of jimmy seville look it up and then marvel at what they did here. When it was over I had the thought that I’d rather they eased into jimmy’s depravity but throwing spike (and the audience) right in to it was the right move

I would guess Samson has at least some awareness of it. May not know everything, but possibly enough to bring the materials with him and hopefully find someone else that may be able to do something with it.

We ran out of time. It’s set in an area of Britain [where] you can only film in certain times of the year. We ran out of time this year – we literally ran out of time. So it’ll be, hopefully, next year. But there’s the enthusiasm there and Alex (Garland) has done a wonderful script for it.

Huh, that is interesting and also makes sense why/how they did it all so back to back.

I’m just glad we have some extra confirmation for the third movie. They confirmed it before Bone Temple’s less than stellar box office performance.

Barn scene is absolutely brutal.

Do I need to watch the previous movies to enjoy this one?

Days/Weeks, no
Years, yes

It’s still worth checking out Days at some point. Weeks not so much.

Hopefully we still get a fifth movie. It was confirmed before the release of this movie and its lackluster box office performance. Based on comments I’ve read, it’s not quite a sure thing anymore.
They should have advertised BT as a sequel. I thought it was a spin off, and i watched it before the 1st one.
