2026 Culture/Society Applied To 1970's TV Shows

I admit that my brain can sometimes take me down previously uncharted (and odd/strange) paths, so with that said:
On The Brady Bunch, Mike Brady adopted Carol's 3 daughters and they all took the Brady last name. Why? Was Carol's (presumably dead) first husband an a-hole? Why didn't the girls keep their original last name to honor and remember their bio dad? At a minimum, you'd think Marcia and Jan had memories of bio dad, so why were they so eager and quick to bury his memory and existence? And what about the girls paternal grandparents and aunts/uncles? Why did they never visit or make an appearance?
Which other old shows might be radically different if they were rewritten to match current culture, views, or expectations?

Most current day 43 year olds don’t age like raw milk in the Sahara like they did back in the 70s.

Sam the beard/butcher aside, that hairdo leaves no hetero options on the table for Alice.

Well, in Three's Company he'd definitely be gay and the two chicks would be biracial tranny lovers.
They wouldn't change anything about Good Times or Sanford and Son for obvious reasons.

According to Wiki, it was never revealed how Carol became single.
Mike was a widower.
Divorce was still a touchy subject back then. Schwartz wanted her to be divorced, but the network said no, so they just left it as an unanswered question.
My family happened to be in Oahu when they were filming the 4-part Hawaii series. I was 12. We encountered them when they were filming on a replica of a pirate ship. I had my picture taken with Bobby. I did not get to meet any of the girls. I probably would have creamed my pants if I would have gotten to meet Marcia.

I'm thinking so the show could be named the Brady bunch instead of the Brand and Robinson Bunch. The show was not that deep to go into a deep dive of the potentially dead ex husband.

While it didn't premier until 1980, Bosom Buddies would probably look more like RuPaul's Drag Race if the norms of today's Hollywood were applied to it.

I think it’s canon that their original dad was a homosexual masquerading as a straight, all American family man.
