what was Silver Linings Playbook and Bernie about?

Also, the Hobbit was excellent, long, but excellent.

I watched Lincoln the other day and loved it. I was never a big DDL fan but he was perfect.

********SPOILER***********

eta: Bernie starred Jack Black as a mortician and town friend who ended up killing an old rich bitch for being too controlling and burdensome.

Silver Linings Playbook is about a former teacher who leaves a mental institution trying to restore his relationship with his former wife, but more importantly about the relationship he builds in the process. DeNiro, Lawrence, and Cooper are all terrific.

Bernie is the story of Bernie Tiede, who is loved by an entire town in East Texas before (and after) killing one of its most despised and wealthy patrons. Features Jack Black in a terrific and hilarious performance.

Silver Linings: Guy released from a mental institution meets another woman with bipolar disorder who he thinks is the solution to helping out his estranged marriage.

Bernie: Good natured man murders hateful bitch and hilarity ensues.

Bernie was pretty good, but Silver Linings is probably the best romantic comedy in over a decade. Really good stuff.

And yeah, it has been a hell of a year for films. Probably the best year for films since 2003.

I was underwhelmed with Lincoln. I thought it was too much at times. For instance, I thought the beginning scene was highly highly unnecessary as were many others. It just took away from the historical feel and made it all Hollywood. I honestly could live without ever seeing it.... so like Crash I am sure it will be the big winner.

of those you named, I've only seen
quote:

Moonrise Kingdom
Django Unchained
Skyfall
The Avengers
Prometheus
The Dark Knight Rises

I suck. I'm going to spend this week watching Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Les Miserables, and Zero Dark Thirty all after school.

And apparently I need to get off my arse and find a way to watch Argo, with it winning best drama at the GG's.

I can't believe there are people in the state of Louisiana that seek out good movies and haven't seen Beasts of the Southern Wilds. If you are going to seek out legit filmmaking, how do you skip out on the film that wins the big festival awards, got all the early year buzz, and is set, filmed, and represents key issues in the state you live? You might not like it when you do see it, but for God's sake, see it before you see Silver Linings Playbook or the like. (And nothing at all against that or any other film.)

Anyway, it was a great year, night and day difference from last year.

Yeah, last year may have been one of the all-time worst years for film. Good to see this year we had one of the best.

I honestly thought TDKR and The Hobbit were the weakest 2 out of all those

I was also a bit underwhelmed by Lincoln, but please don't ever compare Lincoln to that race baiting nonsensical piece of trash known as Crash.

I honestly don't think I saw a movie at the theaters in 2012 that I didn't enjoy.
