Juwanna Man
Showtime (Eddie Murphy & Robert De Niro)
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
Austin Powers in Goldmember
The Master of Disguise
The Adventures of Pluto Nash
Pinocchio (Roberto Benigni)
The Hot Chick

On the flip side Super Troopers, Kung Pow! Enter the Fist, and Death to Smoochy are hilarious.

Only when you ignore every scene Beyonce was in. That woman couldn't act her way out of a paper basket.

The Master of Disguise

Took my son to see this in a theater full of kids and the place roared with laughter. I told that to Brett Spiner at a convention, he said that Carvey had made it for his kids. It’s a hilarious kid movie filled with fart jokes.

Same with Nacho Libre. Kid audiences loved it.

At least they still made comedies in 2002.

The genre is completely dead now due basically to social media outrage mobs.

I'd rather have the 2002 lot of crap than nothing at all.

How often have there been years without a ton of bad comedies? It's a genre with an insanely high miss rate.

2003 was better. Still a ton of duds, which is to be expected with comedies, but also had

Old a School
Elf
Bad Santa
School of Rock
Scary Movie 3
American Wedding
Anger Management
Head of State (underrated in my opinion)

Waiting...
Kicking and Screaming

But not nearly as much 2004:

Anchorman
Napoleaon Dynamite

Meet the Fockers
Mean Girls
The Girl Next Door
Eurotrip
Shaun of the Dead
Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

The comedy golden age of the 00's basically started in 2003 with Old School and ended in 2009 with The Hangover...both Todd Phillips films.

Yes stuff like Zoolander came out before Old School, but, as we see from 2002, the movement didn't really take hold until a couple years later.

The peak was basically from 04-06, or the height of Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn. That was also "my era" so I'm biased, but the titles are kind of in arguable. I think it's better than the late 70s and early 80s, but those that age will argue their time as well.

It doesn't matter, though, all I know is, we likely won't ever see it again. I actually can't think of the last comedy I saw in the theater. We used to go and laugh hysterically.

And now especially with the splintering of Netflix, Amazon, etc, I don't see anyone with any balls to enough to release an actual funny movie anymore.

Todd Phillips basically said as much a coupe years ago. It's why he's doimg stuff like Joker now.
