That synopsis is just another reminder that music from about 1998-2003 was TERRIBLE

I legitimately fricking love that whole album. Played Flossin Season for some younger people a while back, not even really that much younger than me, and they reacted like I put on the worst music they ever heard and had insulted them.

I loved all those MTV awards shows growing up. I was the perfect age for all that stuff. At some point MTV started changing and I checked out. Tried to watch one years later, I honest to god had no clue what I was watching. The vibe of the show and the crowd was completely different.

Yea that was incredibly such a dumbass move from Durst....probably a year or so before this I went to a Limp Bizkit concert (not really my thing but a chick I was trying to bank at the time wanted to go) in Biloxi, MS. It was the Family Values tour and they pretty much had some credibility up there with Korn and Filter. There were people literally hanging from the rafters in the coliseum from what I remember. It was a pretty good time...got drunk, smoked some weed, heard some decent music, and made some progress on the mission even though I didn't close the deal that weekend it wasn't long.

Then like someone said he basically murdered Limp Bizkit in one fell swoop. I can't imagine how Wes Borland doesn't hate Durst

It's truly incredible how talented Wes, Sam, and John were, yet they were fronted by Fred F'n Durst. I guess it paid off for a bit because they were the hottest thing out there for a bit, but jeez with him it was never gonna last. Remember when Wes quit not long after that and they had those "try outs" across the country which turned into mobs of fans booing Fred and throwing shite at him?

I went to Metallica's Summer Sanitarium tour in 2003 in Houston & they had Linkin Park, Limp Biscuit, Deftones, & Mudvayne on the bill. Wes had already quit & they had the guitar player from Snot playing instead. People were literally throwing things onstage at Limp Biscuit & Fred had the bright idea to run around on the floor. People in the seats then started throwing stuff at him as he ran around on the floor. It was one of the worst musical performances I have ever seen. Metallica destroyed everyone else as usual.

Wes did a few side projects that went nowhere. Durst is his meal ticket. Also I got Fred Durst's autograph and shook his hand at the Family Values show in Lafayette in 1998. This was right before they blew up.

Fred Durst's a big time director now when he's not playing shows with Limp Bizkit.

Yea then Fred gave out Borland's email and told fans to email him and beg him to go back.....which turned into fans emailing him telling him never go back to Limp Bizkit.

In one of the book’s anecdotes, Bennett shares a story Eddie Van Halen told him about an incident that took place around 2001. Shortly after Wes Borland’s departure from Limp Bizkit, Eddie found himself at a party with Fred Durst. When a music exec suggested the pair work together, Durst quipped, “That would be hilarious. The greatest guitar player ever plays with the worst band ever.” Eddie apparently responded, “F**k it, let’s jam.”

Eddie ended up jamming with Bizkit at a house in Beverly Hills, but left abruptly when too many people started smoking weed, recalling the experience “like being a scholar amongst kindergartners.” The guitarist ended up leaving his equipment at the house, and sought to get it back the next day.

When Durst didn’t answer Eddie’s phone calls all day, the guitar legend apparently hopped into an assault vehicle that he purchased from a military auction and showed up at the house where Bizkit rehearsed. From there, Bennett quoted Van Halen as follows: “That a-hole answered the door. I put my gun to that stupid f**king red hat of his, and I said, ‘Where’s my shite, motherf**ker?’ That f**king guy just turned to one of his employees and starts yelling at him to grab my shite.”

I don't think any anyone under 30 can really understand the Durst phenomenon. I mean he's remembered like some one-hit wonder now, if any young people even know who he is.

He was one of the biggest celebrities in America. And didn't he bang Britney Spears around the same time Colin Farrell did?

He is also is the reason the band died.

But anyone who thinks Limp Bizkit in that form would have survived if everyone had gotten along, is wrong.

They weren't going to be Pearl Jam and morph into a folk, concert jam band that tours for another 30 years.

Even Kid Rock, who basically on his own challenged Limp Bizkit and was as talented as any rocker of the time, could not maintain the Nu Metal/rap-Rock shite.

He was singing country duets by like 2004 and had Turned into a full modern southern rock/country star by the end of the decade.

That genre lived and died a quick death. I don't think Limp Bizkit was equipped to continue like they were without seriously altering their format.

Any form of real rock basically died 15 years ago.

I don’t think they’re treated like one hit wonders, Durst just makes for an easy target as the poster boy of a “WTF were we thinking?” period

It’s easy to pretend you hated Limp back then but hey I’ll defend 3 dollar bill and significant others. Chocolate starfish is probably where he jumped the shark, he was really smelling his own shite at that point. I think there was one song on there that began with a random shout out to Ben stiller

I actually point back to 2000 as the beginning of all of the political fall out we’re subject to now.

You’re probably dead on about that. I think the Clinton Impeachment was probably the first fissure that led to the 2000 mess but that’s semantics. It just seemed like from 2000 on tribalism became increasing prevalent each year.

The 90’s really laid the groundwork for the division we have now. Shared daily experiences like Johnny Carson gave way to national stories that divided us like OJ & Lewinsky.

See, I would too, but when I go back and listen to them now they've aged so so badly. 3 dollar bill still has some stuff that can go, but for the most part I turn it all off.

Correct. I’d watch it occasionally for background noise. But YouTube already has any video, any time.

If it weren’t for ridiculousness, MTV would be completely irrelevant and unwatchable.. was watching ridiculousness all weekend pretty much, and they just can’t help themselves with their left wing propaganda. Those tranny voting rights commercials make me sick

maybe its just a pure nostalgia thing

for example, Break Stuff is a pretty God awful song that if released today, I'd probably hate. But if it comes on the radio now....crank it up

I think downloading music had more to do with killing the music video than YouTube. For a while there, they were big budget vehicles made to get you to fork over $20 for the entire CD. Not quite worth the investment once people could download the two good songs on your whole album for .99 a pop or free.
