The trailer is 2:24 long. Her first line is at 0:58. Her first action scene is at 1:54.
So for people saying "girl boss!", is it because we know the movie will be about the female and she will fight? Like people love Ripley from Alien and she was kind of a girl boss. Same with the Bride from Kill Bill. So explain the reasoning for me here on why this is a hard pass because 'girl'.
(This is not directed at any one poster. I responded to the last post on the thread. I am asking this question to the number of posters on here who typically have complained about too many girl bosses.)

Trigger Warning: There are women and they are not in the kitchen.
Kudos getting the name brand and all, but it just looks like some generic anime, which I'm not super into in the first place.

Not dismissing this out of hand. Jackson/Boyens/Walsh having some hand in this tempers my concern.

First of all, it’s because Tolkien never even named her. That says a lot. Because if she were noteworthy for any historical reasons (within the realm of middle earth), Tolkien would have gone into further explanation. It is a bit of a trademark of his to over develop even the most trivial of characters, especially when there was something significant about them.
Secondly, there are no reservations by him in making a strong female character. There are many in his writings, but I suspect, as with Amazon, Warner Brothers was limited in what they could adapt. So they took a character who did exist from his writings, but had not even been given any name.
If she were so famous, or had been a significant part of some story, it certainly would have warranted her being recorded in history beyond ’daughter of Helm Hammerhand’. .
So they did the best thing they could, and created a fanfic character from a known person who was the daughter of somebody famous.
* Soy DV are still crying over the acolyte being cancelled.

So you realize how dumb this sounds?
The Silmarillion covers over 6,000 years. It's impossible to cover every meaningful person born in a 6,000 year period.
Even with all our real world written history and thousands and thousands of historians we can't cover every important person that ever lived.
When writing a history of the world with a limited amount of space, you are required to skip over some people. That does not mean they didn't do anything important.

So they aren't trying to cash in on a named character that is a fan favorite and change mythos but rather use the setting of the IP to develop someone unknown to fill in lore?
And we have a problem with this because?

Do I need any knowledge beyond the original 3 movies and the Hobbit?
They raped the hell out of lore for that one.
Remains to be seen with this one, but all of the early leaks have been disheartening.
Board lefties should be thrilled.

apparently he thinks the people of middle earth just stood around with their dicks in their hands during the periods they weren't being written about.

I don’t know how good the animated, connecting stories of The Matrix, Blade Runner and other famous properties are because I’m not watching that shite. You don’t do anime after you have box office smash hits with the same IP. It just isn’t cricket.

No she’s a well written character which is why she’s so popular.

You mean like The Clone Wars?
Not everything has to be a live action blockbuster.
Into and Across the Spideyverse are great animated works of cinema as well that came out after Spiderman had box office smash hits.

Yes, Clone Wars isn’t good. You may have liked it when you were a child the way everyone likes silly and dumb shite when they’re children but it isn’t good.

Would’ve preferred animation in the style of Tintin, which Jackson was involved in

Why do you guys engage with him?
He is an idiot teenager who knows nothing, and just loves woke shite.
There is absolutely zero value in conversing with this cat on any issue.
He is beyond pathetic

you can die without ever getting any more stories from middle earth.
trying to stop new stories from being created in that universe is an impossible battle though.
Noone can force you to watch or include it in the Tolkien canon, so what are you whining about again? Oh, you don't want anything to be made that others might enjoy, because reasons?
