I understand the relationship but do not feel so much needs to be shown as it is.

Catholic practices throughout history of the Catholic church has been known for far worse. Has more to do with the abusive power of the church than white people.

The mid season trailer is up for those interested. Spencer always on an adventure or I should say trouble always finds him

after watching that, i wouldn't put it past Sheridan to kill Spencer on the boat on his way home.

I was thinking his girlfriend and why no history of him getting married or children. He finally believes he has found peace to find fate was following him with a different future. Their first adventure she was almost eaten by lions.

What a fricking ending Sheridan gave us there.

3 months?!? 3 MONTHS?!?!

Spencer better get on boat ASAP.

as we were watching, I was wondering how they would address that time gap. When she pulled out the letters I thought maybe reading all of the letters for the first time would influence Spencer to return home without even getting the latest letter about the killings.

Of course, I was assuming the whole time that the events in Africa were happing concurrently with what was happening in Montana. Turns out, all of the Africa stuff on screen was happening after the Montana events...he had been carrying the latest letter around with him. Thought that was well done.

and how do you know that...... oohh yea you dont.

Im not saying he isnt.... but that is not settled in the story yet.

Im saying Why have this new hero brother, who is battling demons, and finding love, and seeming ready to change his way of life, not be the linage that comes down.

yeah, it's starting to look that way. part of the family tree is assumed when it comes to John Dutton II and his father. it's either Spence or Jack.

LINK

quote:

Elsa, John, and Spencer are the children of John and Margaret Dutton (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill‘s characters in 1883). In her 1923 narration, Elsa said that of her parents’ three children, “only one would live to see their own children grown. Only one would carry the fate of this family through the depression and every other hell the 20th century hurled at them.”

The voiceover came as viewers watched Spencer walk through an African landscape carrying a dead lion with his hunting partners. This was the first hint that it would be Spencer to carry on the family name. And now that Elsa and John, Sr. are both dead, it seems even more likely.

quote:

Elsa’s narration says it will be one of James and Margaret’s children who continues the family legacy through the years. While it seems most likely that it will be Spencer now, it’s not impossible that she could have been referencing John, Sr.’s son. But given how 1923 is positioning Spencer as more of a major character than Jack, our money is on Spencer being John III’s grandfather.

Yeah, I also love how the sheep farmer was as accurate with that fully-automatic Tommygun as Chris Kyle was with a .338 at 200 yards.

And where did a sheep farmer get a car from?

Umm, but we do

We know James Dutton is Kevin costners great great grandfather. Which means john II has to belong to Jack

If John II belonged to Spencer, then Tim McGraw would only have been the great grandfather

Everyone is forgetting that Rainwater didnt grow up on the Reservation, thought he was Mexican until he was 18, didn't know his biological mother either and was adopted.

So curious how they tie it all together.

Because the letters from Cara to Spencer in episode 4 explicitly said that. The final letter said "your brother is dead. Your uncle will soon be dead. Your nephew is wounded."

That means Jack is his nephew, which would have to make him John Dutton's son, since we know Elsa didn't have children and John is Spencer's only other sibling.

I am wagering she does not make it. And since the family trees I have seen does not show her or Spencer having a wife I think she dies on their trip there.

Which will make Spencer even more hell to deal with.

She isn’t in the family tree because she hasn’t been established yet in any story. The family tree is only based on what is shown and established in the shows as of now
