I started to get restless by the time that scene was over. I wanted them to get back to the main story

The only negative to me was the scene with the French woman and the baby. I get why it happened. Director thought the audience needed a break, and maybe we did, especially with the death and him knocking himself out on the stairs and the chase scene. I just wasn’t a huge fan of it, really halted the momentum and kind of ruined the moment later when you find out Scho has a wife and two girls. I didn’t hate the scene, just hated that it halted the momentum

They did such a great job of humanizing Schofield in the scene with the French woman and the baby. The fire burning created a cozy/safe environment and the tenderness between the two was really well done. He gets his second (or maybe third of fourth at this point) wind by being reminded of his wife and daughter and the departure with her looking up at him begging him to stay was heartbreaking.

that’s what my wife thought, she was cutting off circulation to my left hand holding onto my arm so tight. To me that says how good it is. Perfectly captures the stress and importance of the mission that they went on. Because of how it’s filmed you feel you’re part of the mission too.

Yeah man, almost every post in this thread uses the word anxiety. shite that sounds terrible.

Let's see. What else causes "anxiety"?

Oh there's the dentist's chair, a urinary catheter, a proctology exam, a colonoscopy (you have to be drugged for those). Basically anything that involves fingers or mechanical devices in your various holes.

Then there's getting pulled over, a woman's period, not finding a toilet when you need one and losing your coke dealer. This list could easily go on and apparently this frickin' movie is on it.

Forget that shite.

Well giant vagina or not. This sounds like the movie version of chewing foil or maybe a paper cut on your lip.

Then why on earth did you jump into a spoiler thread about the film?

Don’t get me wrong. I get why it happened. I still thought the scene was well done but I didn’t particularly like how much it detracted. Almost felt like a different film for just that one scene. It’s a great scene. I just didn’t enjoy it and stood out as the one negative to me

Because I read the thread and I felt like it.

It's not a big deal. It's just a movie.

You sure do like to fill up threads with posts about what you don’t or won’t like in a movie, and then when someone pushes back against your statements you just go to the “it’s just a movie” response

Loved this movie. Still a couple more from this year I need to see but so far it’s near the top of my list. Other have already mentioned it, but the intensity in a few of the scenes was awesome. I was worried the one continuous shot thing could make it feel like a gimmick, but I didn’t get that feeling at all. The score was great and of course Deakins and his cinematography was top notch, could easily walk away with his second Oscar in a row.

Really enjoyed it. I agree with the other poster about the baby scene. It seems a little out of place to me but that’s a very minor nitpick. it sucked having to kill the other kid off so quickly because they made a great team. That death was shocking to me. I thought for sure he would get saved or make it out someone

Best movie of the year, and one of the best in recent years.

First hour - what seemed like one hour-long single take - was pure art. The second half was not far behind in brilliance.
