What do we have to do?
The purse is up there. This year's field looks like garbage AGAIN.

Watney, Romero, Perry,...No biggies yet and probably none coming. Last year we got shunned for the Tavistock Cup and now this.

With the huge purses, the top players are able to tailor their schedules to the majors, the WGC events, courses they like, sponsor tie-ins, etc. If they don't like the course and/or location they won't play. There's been some discussion about making changes to the Tour bylaws where players would have to play events like Zurich say at least once every 5 years.

TPC isn't the best course either

I'd argue that its one of the bottom 3 courses on a regular tour stop.

The place can't hold the crowd the big names would draw

I played there and you're right. You would think Pete Dye with all the experience he has at building natural stadium courses would have done a better job. It's almost like he was there just enough to get his name on it and label it a TPC.

agreed.
Gimmicky bunkering and poor course layout make top players avoid this course like the plague.

Yeah, South LA's landscape doesn't exactly lend itself to great golf courses.

especially ones carved purely out of the swamp

They should move this tournament back to English Turn. At least there, there were good birdie holes, one great risk/reward hole (island green 15th), and one of the toughest finishing holes on the PGA Tour. The last few years at the Turn saw some incredible fields (Vijay and Mickelson both came in consecutive years). Was it more English Turn not wanting the event anymore or was it the fact that the TPC was built that moved the tournament to its current location?

Tim Finchem had it out for English Turn for some reason I really don't understand and had the TPC built specifically for the PGA event.

There's the winner. The TPC courses are directly affiliated with the PGA Tour. They would never have a tournament in an area and not use their TPC course unless it was a tradition issue.

Could it have been Master P's gold plated tank?

Technology was also getting the best of english turn. The course wasn't very long by today's standards and there was little room to expand given all the houses surrounding the course.

I would rather see 63-65-64-64 at English Turn with the field it used to have than what shows up at TPC.
I walked all 18 the first year they had the tourney out there and haven't been back. It really is a piece of shite. Dye should be ashamed of himself.

17 and 9 are identical holes.....and trouble left on every par 4...pretty lame
also the greens are really small, #2 must be the smallest green on tour

Went to pretty much all the Tournaments at English Turn. Only been once to the new course and it sucked.
