Steven Stamkos and Austin Matthews fought each other in one of the Lightning-Maple Leafs playoff games.
Two players on that ice you would least expect to fight and they fought each other.
Two #1 picks too.
OT: Wayne Gretzky got in 3 fights in his career

Kraken! Glad to move to round 2, but even more glad we are playing a team where some of the games will be before midnight

Not going to lie, a bit relieved to not feel like I have to stay up for those late games anymore.
Lot going on personally and the late nights are hurting.

Puck drop for game 1 on Tuesday is 830p cst. Sucks, I rarely stay up that late.

Dallas keeps getting these super late starts for home games on weekdays…. I went to games 1&2 for round 1 with game one double OT ending after 1AM and game 2 ending near midnight with work next day.

That's because they want the Eastern Conference games over or near over by the time the Western Conference games start.
They actually staggered games pretty well in the 1st round. 7 and 7:30 starts for the EC. Then 9:30 and 10 for the WC. (of course, there were some outliers based on arena availability with some cities having both NHL and NBA teams in the playoffs)
That was awesome being able to switch from one game to the other during the intermissions.
It will be similar in the 2nd round. Except one game will be on at a time instead of two. 3rd round the EC and WC will just trade nights, so you should get some earlier start times.

Flames moving on from Sutter. Apparently the players hated him

And both networks are lying about the start times. That series will be closer to 8:50 puck drops than 8:30.
Many won't remember, but the first contract with ESPN they would usually run games on ESPN and ESPN2 concurrently. The Eastern Conference games would still start at their usual 6:00 or 6:30 CST. And the Western Conference games would start at their normal 7:00 or 7:30 on ESPN2. None of these Central Time Zone teams ever played home games that didn't start until 8:50. But some executive figured out it doesn't want games running at the same time on the same family of networks. So this setup is what we get now. Nothing changes for the Eastern Conference. While all the Western Conference games gets pushed back 1.5 hours to get maximum exposure for both series.
Notice how even the national schedule on ABC only has one game at a time? Back in the '90s and '00s, FOX, ABC, and NBC would have 2-4 games on at the same time in the early rounds. Where you lived decided what game you got. Now the networks don't split the coverage like that anymore.

Devils doing an impressive job of completely dominating the Rangers while at the same time doing everything they can to beat themselves.

Devils taking too many penalties.

Hughes needs to learn at his age that the more he bitches to the refs the less calls he is going to get. That stuff works if you have been in the league for ten years but not when it is your first playoff series.

Nothing fires up a team and arena quite like a 4th liner goal
