There's also a ton of hockey in Texas.

A lot of my friends growing up played at the StarsCenter. Now they have StarsCenters all over DFW.

That was a great game. The plan for a 7 game SC with all O-T remaining games is proceeding nicely.

Sort of had a feeling VGK might let this one slip away when Berbashev hit that post. They had chances in the 2nd and 3rd to seal it but just could not put one in. Bobrovsky player of the game for FLA — made a number of huge saves. Makes the series more interesting going forward.

So getting back to the amount of hockey played in southern states. Minnesota has 55,000 registered youth hockey players with USA Hockey. California has 30,000. I'd have to look up Florida and Texas numbers but the amount would shock you.

It's not like football or basketball but it's a large number, more than you'd think.

I know absolutely diddly shite about hockey, so excuse the ignorant question… but does Florida have a ton of support in that town? I know they have at least two teams (the Panthers and TB), but Florida doesn’t exactly strike me as a hockey town (state)

Yes.

The Lightning get plenty of support. The Panthers have not, until now. They went 26 years without winning a playoff series before finally ending that drought last year.

Kind of weird how the reaction is like FLA has won the cup already.

Games 1 and 2 were routs and Game 3 was an OT win after an empty net tie.

Florida’s first Cup final win in franchise history

Could wind up being the pivot point of the series if the Panthers get on a roll

Yep, Jr. Stars is a solid program. Texas has a ton of hockey in all the major metro areas.

I watched a youth practice in Odessa one day. It was surreal driving by Permian HS, thinking Friday Night Lights, then watching kids play hockey there like 10 minutes later.

As a northern kid, I never would have imagined it.

I think the fans (and the team) know how close they were to being buried tonight. Let’s face it, they were outplayed for most of the second half of the game. But now they have some life. Still think VGK wins this series b/c ultimately they have better speed and passing than FLA — and they are just as physical if not more so.

A lot will hinge on whether Bobrovsky can steal another game or two as to whether this goes to a game 7.

An old bugaboo comes back to bite us again.

Well, if you're going to lift the Cup, you gotta handle adversity. We'll see if VGK answer the bell on Saturday.

I think the NHL and hockey fans are happy with this. We want a series not a sweep.

Yep, as a neutral observer I agree completely. I want 4 more overtime games, please.
