OJ Simpson running for 273 yards at Detroit. Then a record.

Randy Moss as a rookie scoring three touchdowns on three catches and sticking it in Jerry's face for passing him over in the draft.

1974, Dallas vs Washington. Staubach goes out in the 2nd qtr with an injury and rookie Clint Longley comes in down 16-3. 4th qtr 58 seconds left down 23-17 he unleashes a 50 yard hail marry to Drew Pearson for the win.
2 years later he sucker punches Staubach in the locker room, is traded to San Diego, with the trade picks the Cowboys traded them to move up in the draft and take Tony Dorsett, not a bad trade. Jerry Jones didn't own the team so therefore there was a competent GM who knew what he was doing making the decisions.

I remember Barry Sanders going off one year and then Moss killing Dallas a year or two later. Both were complete freaks.

quote:And three TD's! The girl, who's parents I spent that Thanksgiving with, were longtime Cowboys fans. Year after year, we'd eat, watch the game, and go home with an extra pumpkin pie her mom baked.
Moss had 3 catches for 160 yds.
I had Moss on my fantasy team and couldn't contain my excitement every time he scored. Her dad and I were friends, but that day was very awkward as we sat together on the couch. That was the only time I saw him get drunk at home.
That was the only year I won my fantasy league too. I never played again after that.

. Leon Lett. I remember Jerry prematurely celebrating after the blocked FG with the announcer saying the famous “It’s Leon Lett…No!!!” Too funny.
I was at that game!
And it was frozen rain on the field...which is different from snow...I learned the difference my 7 years in Pennsylvania.
I also saw the Oilers put a 13 minute drive on the Cowboys in 1997 on Thanksgiving.
Eddie George trucked Tony Casillas right in front of me at the goal line

A deeper cut than most. Walter Stanley in 1986. First career start. Catches two touchdown passes and returned a punt 83 yards for a go ahead touchdown in the final minute.

Was it Thanksgiving where Jerome Bettis called heads and the ref gave the ball to the Lions anyway when it was heads?
Yep. Phil Luckett, also remembered for knocking down a wide open Joe Horn and coating the Saints a touchdown.

Most of mine have been mentioned by others. But I remember spending Thanksgiving at my dad's watching a no name backup QB leading the Cowboys to a comeback win against the Packers in the prettiest throwback uniforms I ever saw after Aikman got hurt the week before. That Cowboys uniform was so badass I remember asking my grandmother to buy me one not long after.

Conrad Dobler throwing his helmet into the stands after being ejected towards the end of the St. Louis Cardinals beat down by the Miami Dolphins

Dude just a joke that no one have fun in the booth today like John Madden back then.
You want to see some fun in the booth?
Watch the movie "Monday Night Mayhem."
Mostly true story of the beginnings of MNF featuring Frank Gifford, Dandy Don Meredith, and Howard Cosell.
They tried Keith Jackson at the beginning but he didn't fit in, so they brought in Gifford.
So began Keith Jackson's legendary career calling college games.
It was a surprisingly good movie, especially if you watched MNF from the beginning through the 90's, and if remember how TV sports was back then.

I too remember that. The Big Red played in four Thanksgiving Day games while in St. Louis, hosted two but ended due to the annual local Kirkwood-Webster Groves high school football game, and all four were blowout losses……such was life as a fan of that team.

Clint Longley to Drew Pearson. Against the hated Redskins. A moment I will never forget.

I remember that Miami game. 55-14… I’m often wondered why the cowboys didn’t play that thanksgiving.

I was there. We left at about 12:50 in the 3rd QTR.
