Regional sports networks can be anywhere from $3 to $10 of that monthly bill, which is why YouTube TV dropped them for being too expensive.

They assumed they'd be able to get the other distributors on board, but most balked at the extremely high price the channel demanded to even break even on the high rights fee. Time Warner Cable was later sold to Charter Communications, the #2 cable company in the country with 30 million Internet subscribers. They generate over $50 Billion of revenue and $20 Billion of earnings annually, and long ago wrote off the annual losses they take from paying out the extremely high fees.
So, through the end of the contract in 2038, cord cutting simply does not impact the Dodgers.

Even though it's been stated repeatedly and by many - I still don't think folks realize how much of a difference maker this is. Yes most of these owners are rich, but the Dodgers owners are rich AND have this other HUGE advantage.
As I've said you can debate how much of it is/was savvy business at the time or just plain good luck and good timing - I'd argue more of the latter.
But either way they can outspend anyone they want to. If someone would have matched their offer to Ohtani, they would have kept going because they knew the money it would bring in - and at some point the other owners would not be able to foot the initial bill to get there - and they could.
I mean they paid Kyle Tucker $60 million a year even after all the red flags in Chicago last year, and they could care less that it's wasted. Just like the year before they went out and outpaid everyone else for the two best relivers in the game, they both sucked and no worries they just pulled from their bevy of high priced starters and pitched them out of the pen in the playoffs.

The rivalry between the New York Yankees, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Baseball Giants is a part of American sports history that can never happen again. It was a unique and outright GIFT to baseball fans then and now.
I love reading about the olden days of MLB back when New York City had three great MLB teams. Those upstart Yankees really came on strong and dominated the Era, and my folks from Brooklyn will always hate the Yankees for that.
