The other thing regarding all the hype on lebron since he was in HS.
Wasn't it well deserved? hasn't he exceeded all expectations for him?

I think so, and there's something else that all the James haters neglect to consider. James (and other athletes) don't ask for or create the hype machine. Sure, they are willing participants, but who wouldn't be? Letting the hype machine operate can earn you millions of dollars. Just like with "The Decision". James didn't demand an hour special and all of that. ESPN had that in the works for months (you could argue for a couple of years, but...). Again, James was a willing participant, but to assign the blame to him is naive at best. As I said last week, the people who are the most to blame are ESPN and the people who buy into this stuff and watch it. Just like with columnists you don't like, if you don't read their column and encourage others not to read them, they will go away. If you hate James because of the hype, find out who's creating the hype and direct your rage at them.

Basically, your Saban analogy and the other nonsense that we're seeing here is very similar to the reaction of a jilted lover.
Without question Sophandros. And your analogy of that same lover steadfastly defending his partner despite the obvious is also spot on.
I think there is definitely some of both in this LeBron saga and with Saban. Heck, you see it with Les. There are still many here who get very upset at even the most harmless critiques of Coach Miles and if the time comes where Les is no longer here, you'll have many "one former player/coach told me" stories coming out of the woodwork...much more than are now.

Going through this thread I find one thing staggeringly hilarious: Are people seriously trying to use Jordan and Bryant as examples of being less arrogant and more humble than James?? Seriously?
Those are two of the most openly arrogant, narcissistic, self-absorbed, self-promoting douchebags ever. They always treated their teammates like shite and never showed any loyalty to anyone but themselves. You think if free agency as it exists today and the 24-hour news cycle had been around when Jordan was 25, he would've shown any loyalty to any fanbase or missed an opportunity to promote himself in the same way? Is there a single sports figure of the past 20 years outside of Terrell Owens that has carried himself more like a spoiled brat than Kobe Bryant?
Again, I don't particularly care about any of these guys but the blatant hypocrisy is just unbelievable. Of those three, only one has seemed to have a positive relationship with his teammates--that's James. Say what you want about his lack of competitive fire; that's up for debate. But trying to say he's somehow more of an a-hole than those other guys is beyond stupid.

This and Coach K isn't man enough to tell him to his face instead of back channels through Nike?

I like how on page 1 you call me out for saying Lebron was a leader basically saying I was wrong.
Now I've posted before and in this post which COMPLETLEY prove you wrong.
But for some reason you ignored it and answered other posts.
Nice.

Disagree. People want to know the "real" Lebron. Somebody sold that story. More power to them.

Crown this post.
And for me personally, I don't care very much about all this off the court stuff, ESPECIALLY when it's completely unsubstantiated stuff.
All I care about is what these guys do on the court.

Because of the modern media, I tend to not believe in article unless it cites sources by name. This article cites exactly zero sources.

You're a smart man.
So many guys on here believe everything they read, even when it comes from a guy who regularly bashes Lebron with articles full of unnamed sources every time.
Posted on 7/17/10 at 8:30 pm to shel311
I don't dislike LeBron, but Wojo is a pretty good writer and I'm inclined to believe much of what was written.
And really, unnamed sources are a necessary evil. The sources who provide the best information could face repercussions for being named. If a writer names a source who prefers not to be named, then he risks not having any sources in the future.

Simple Equations
Lebron James - Kobe = No 2008 Gold
Lebron James - (Dwyane Wade + Chris Bosh) = Loser
This article proves it.

I don't know what to make of the article. They say James is incredibly immature, but the biggest scandals of his career have been his not shaking hands with the Celtics in 2008 and his faux pas with "The Decision."
That's a seven-year career with very few blemishes. If he's that much of an a-hole, wouldn't he have done way more bad things than that?

What I find funny are people that work for ESPN, who criticize the whole "Decision" thing on Lebron James. Knowing that ESPN, who they work for, created the whole fiasco and 1 hour special and such

Some how I get the feeling Coach K had to put up with this a lot in practice and locker room.

maybe if him and his team mates weren't doing this during the regular season they could have been a bit more focused playoff time.
I think that he hasn't ever had anyone tell him no, he has been surrounded by yes men all the time which can also contribute to the way Lebron acts. Since High School, his friends and the Cavs organization he always got his way. Seems that was put to a temporary stop during the Olympics by the staff and vets. Then continued when he got back to the NBA season
