There's what, $500 million in entry fees during the WSOP and the vig is only 6-7%? Ya, there's a 0% chance they're not staking pro's at a minimum.
Most poker players money would never be wagered in the casino if the game didn't exist as it's a "game of skill". It also attracts whales and return customers as its not traditional gambling
Also if you think the house is fine with player XYZ sitting down at the 20-40 game that runs once a month, crushing it for 8 hours and walking away with $25k+ in profit while the rake only collects $2-3k, think again. They don't just want the rake, they want it all. And the way to ensure that is by having your own horses in the game. Games like that only run in the first place because a few of the whales decide to play

My cousin played, done til next year posted this on FB.
"Sad to say my Main Event has come to an end. I was knocked out 40 players before cashing. There were 9735 players, 1461 will cash and I was 1501. Thanks for all your support and kind words. We will give em hell again next year."

Hellmuth took a rough one to exit. He was behind to start but then hit and then doom on the river.

That’s why a lot of poker rooms are taking a hit. It’s way too easy for people at the same table to be cheating. Had a friend get screwed by this at The Mirage once.

Would be pretty sweet to say you knocked out Phil.

It would. He didn't even say a word when he left the table.

Drama at an external table...and pokergo leaves for a gutshot straight draw

Yeah, but then you gotta admit he had you, and you hit a one-outer.

Shills have been around since before the game was invented.

522 remain
Shoutout pokergo for taking the main event coverage back behind the paywall once the Bubble burst
So lame . I get them wanting subscriptions but maybe give some free pub to your biggest tournament of the year

Just sign up for a month, then cancel. That's what I did. It's 20 bucks. It sucks but hell, I want to watch.

A lot of people are being staked, bought into, and several ladies sucking dicks for entree fees , this is the WSOP main Event

Just like the guy in the golf course wanting to take a beating from a huge hockey guy, I would have much preferred he go off full Phil style of that was me.

Did y'all just see one of the biggest punts in poker history?
