This is like saying "my 4 year old only wants to eat candy and ice cream at every meal and only drink surge so I gave in and let him. His overall health is atrocious and he doesn't follow instructions but hes mostly happy and likes to eat so what's the problem?"

College students are adults who have more freedom in the current system. That is a good thing. If some make bad decisions, that’s on them.

He didn’t say a single thing wrong and I’m not even sure what point you’re trying to argue. You’re mad he doesn’t touch on CFB but it’s exactly his point

They're also....college students. Ya know...AMATEUR STUDENT ATHLETES. They don't desreve to be paid millions (in addition to the 6 figures' worth of compensation they already received prior to all this) in excahnge for completely ruining the sport and turning it into NFL-lite.

College is supposed to be a time to prepare you for the rest of your post-schooling life. Them having their hand out and begging for money instead of waiting is decidedly not a good thing.

I gave my son’s agent the general manager’s contact information today after the GM texted me that we’d be getting the NIL contract this week. I don’t see it as holding your hand out…it’s simply a negotiation. They’re paying $14-20 million/yr for players, you want to be represented when they’re divvying that up…even if it’s a paltry amount compared to a WR1. If I get a call from the GM before this weekend’s visit I’m sure it will be awkward. frick it…I didn’t make the rules.

Then don’t pay them. Simple. But you’re not entitled to being entertained by players a hell of a lot more talented than what would be out there if they were all legitimate college students.

the problem is college sports started to make tons of money

and at some point you have to realize when you’re making tons of money you’re now a business and there are laws that govern businesses.

Identifying the NCAA as corrupt doesn't make you clairvoyant. His time would have been better spent explaining how to stop the new age of NIL greed.

You know, the hard part.

Put a Gator jersey on and I will watch and root for them, only if they are a student who qualified with everyone else, and not an athlete who skipped the line and has no business going to college. They don't want to act like they are going to school, and I don't want to listen to them being interviewed as they are unable to speak in complete sentences. I want college students playing college sports.

I don't know what you've been watching then for the past 30, 40 years.

This … it was inevitable that the people who actually put their asses on the line would want a share of that pot.

The problem is fans who want them to be amateurs when it suits their purposes, but get off on how big things have gotten when it suits their purposes, and resent that their interests aren’t being considered in this stuff.

2023, 55 percent of the football players in the portal never found a new team.

Looks like they made a pretty poor career decision

There is a reason you don't see this wild wild West crap in the NFL

a CBA and salary cap and the a lack of grown adults willing to just give players money so the Giants can play better.

The whole point is the system is fricked and the “rules” need revision.

It’s really fine, people just exaggerate and think every SEC player is walking around with millions. Most are just getting paid like a normal job…of which they’re expected to do a shite load of work. I’d bet 75% of the SEC football players make less than $100k/yr.
