I cant imagine that as I know a catch in the NFL involves 2 feet, a back, etc. on the ground.

Show me and the others where Tate had possession of the ball.

We are not talking about a catch, we are talking about the simultaneous possession rule.
The simultaneous possession rule is the only way for that play to be considered a touchdown. Since there was no simultaneous possession, the ruling was obviously wrong, thus all the outrage.

DB had 2 hands on the ball at first, and Tates hand was between the guys chest and the ball. In the scrum, Tates right hand went in and got other hand on the ball. Should of been INT the entire time because he established possession before Tate.

Simultaneous possession. Now pi should have been called but that's a different story.
You're a moron. At one point, with the DB in FULL possession, Golden Tate had exactly ZERO hands on the ball.

I'll spell it out for you. Possession implies control of the ball. BUT control does not imply possession. He does not have to have his feet on the ground (possession) in order to control the ball.

In the endzone, once the ball is completed and in bounds, the play is over. Thats why it doesnt matter if theres a pile up and fighting for possession. DB had 2 hands on the ball, both feet in bounds and possession. Everything else that went on was irrelevant because its in the endzone. This is why the review call pissed me off because as long as the DB had the ball in his hands, which he did, and was in bounds, the play is over.

please show me a rule where it says that a player must have two hands on the ball for it to be considered possesion.

This is the way I view the play both players jump up for the ball Tate has the ball with one hand jennings has the ball with two hands, after they both fall to the ground tate puts his second hand on the ball. Couldn't it be argued that having one hand on the ball would be considered possession of the football?

It is obvious that Tate got a second hand on the ball after the catch was made, but it looks like not clear that he had one hand on the ball at the same time jennings had two hands on the ball, possibly making that simultaneous possession.

this is a more difficult call then you are making it out to be it isn't clear as day as your making out to be. Tate had one hand on the ball if you can show me in the rule book that in a tie up you must catch the ball with two hands then I'll agree with you.

It was such a good call that no referee will ever make the same call in the same situation ever again

so you're saying that jennings caught the ball first and then tate later?

the rule itself states:

Rule 8, Article 3, Item 5: If a pass is caught simulataneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control.

So if Jennings caught it FIRST, then it is HIS possession, no matter what Tate does.

god damn, it's not that complicated. The ball was lodged in Jennings' chest, with both of his hands on the ball, while Tate was just touching it.
