3 out of 5 All SEC players this year came from mid major programs. In the past those guys would be leading those mid major programs to a tournament upset.

It was always going to be a heavy chalk tournament. It just makes for better games in later rounds of the tournament which is fine

Gonzaga isn't a mid major basketball program and St Mary's is a solid program that's in the tournament every year and usually makes the round of 32.

I think the general premise of this thread is correct.

While upsets are fun in the early rounds, I personally don't mind chalk, because as someone already mentioned, you get better matchups in the later rounds.

You’ll still have them if they’re more than the sum of their parts… you won’t have stars on a mid major if they can play P5 though

It’s not just that, mid majors as an at large are getting excluded for basically entire conferences getting in to the tournament. There are several cinderella teams who were capable of making runs that were excluded.

I think the lack of close games is what made it less exciting. Even most of the upsets didn’t really come down to a final possession.

With that said, I think we’re in for some really good basketball the rest of the way.

Boring early rounds usually lead to better later rounds. Fret not, lil bitch.

Yep, some very intriguing matchups today and tomorrow.

st Mary's has an enrollment of 2,000 students. WCC is the definition of mid major

A crazy high number of blowouts. Even in years with few upsets there are at least many close calls.

None of us were invited. We don’t play on the teams.

Well, there's a reason for that since Woodward destroyed the program.
