2012 Tigers were probably worse. Maybe 2008 Rays.

The team is so shitty yet the Guardians kept pitching to Soto and Stanton when they were literally the only two bats that could harm them … it’s mind blowing

That 2012 Tigers had triple crown Miggy, Prince Fielder, Verlander, and Scherzer
Although they did have some more firepower throughout the rest of the lineup the next couple years and didn’t make it to the World Series

Considering hey had the best record in the AL this year and made it to the World Series losing only two games in the DS and CS, I would say no.
Worst World Series PERFORMANCE by an AL team? Very possible. Worst MANAGED AL team to play in the World Series? Also very possible.

Had they lost the game on the Saturday before the season ended, they wouldn't have even MADE the playoffs.
Then they go on a road winning streak, the likes of which may never be seen again.
So yes, our WS win was a fluke. But it doesn't come with a side order of controversy.
