To some extent the post-season (MLB, NHL or NBA) builds on what happens during the regular season. It's the cherry on top of a sundae we have been slowly eating for months. But this year the regular season was practically a toss away for most sports so it's not surprising that bled over into the post-season.

I've heard a lot of comments from people I know to be typical sports fans along the lines of "I didn't even know XXX had a good team this year" or "I don't even know who XXX's best player is".

Hating them would mean I care and/or think about them. I don't. Thus why I didn't watch or even know they already started the finals.

I just find the hubris and inflated self-importance of the west coast/LA area to be entertaining.

But not nearly to the extent of the NBA

NBA by far experienced the biggest fall. I mean it fell behind baseball, a sport it was crushing

I know but still big
I know MANY Mets fans. MAGA AF and they stopped watching after the stunt they pulled
Yankees fans wanted to as well, but the Yankees as an organization would never pull that shite

Mets definitely won’t anymore, with their new owner SAC

BLM.

I've watched the Astros since 1975. This year, when the BLM pandering started, I have not watched ONE game. When MLB drops the commies I'll come back, until that time I hope they fail.

Doesn't help that 4 of your 10 largest markets weren't represented in the bubble : Chicago, Bay Area , ATL, New York( little brother Nets w/o Durant & Irving)....

Those places had the NFL /MLB playoffs to move on to by Sept/Oct . Other areas CFB. If the Bubble had been in June /July with no Football/MLB playoffs / CFB I think the ratings are normal.

Do you know the only difference between the KKK and BLM?

KKK never had many black people stupid enough to support it or to show how "enlightened" they are by saying something snide about people who oppose it.

Because this isn't even a true World Series. With the Kung Flu requiring a "bubble", and playing all games at a single neutral site. I feel terrible for the Dodgers not being able to ever win a World Series with this era's team. Maybe next year.

Really? Everyone cut cable? That usually means they cut Internet too as they come in a bundle.

Just because they "usually" come in a bundle doesn't mean they got rid of internet. Have you been living under a rock? People cut cable and pick up streaming services.

But, go ahead and continue being a funny guy with your 19th century jokes.

You would think that would be the last thing people cut during the last 8 months sitting at home with Cabin Fever.

Yeah, because when someone has Cabin Fever, the first thing they think is "let me sit on my couch and binge watch some reruns of How I Met Your Mother or NCIS. That'll cure thar fever."

Needed that Braves v Houston Astro match up.

No one cares that much about Dodgers v Rays nationally.

Game One of the Dodgers' series against the Tampa Bay Rays attracted 9.1 million viewers, Fox Sports said. The game was the most watched program on Tuesday but also became the least-watched World Series game ever -- or at least since Nielsen began tracking ratings in 1968

Sounds like the Houston Sports Market finally got a win for once.
