The Los Angeles Dodgers' appearance in Major League Baseball's top event couldn't save the league from the impact of a sports viewership decline. Game One of the Dodgers' series against the Tampa Bay Rays attracted 9.1 million viewers, Fox Sports said. The game was the most watched program on Tuesday but also became the least-watched World Series game ever -- or at least since Nielsen began tracking ratings in 1968.

No fans, short season and it's the Rays.

Certain teams kill ratings no matter the opponent. Florida teams usually kill ratings.

Now Dodgers - Yankees; you bet your bottom dollar it would've beat NFL ratings.

Nobody cares about the Rays and we're all tired of the Dodgers.

He fell from grace like Drew Brees.

The worst of all-time. I sense a pattern across multiple sports that didn't have a normal season.

NBA, MLB, NHL, US open etc. All had record low ratings.

Maybe has something to so with record numbers of people cable cutting during a pandemic. Cable bill is the 1st bill to go when money gets tight.

Let's not pretend that MLB didn't play into BLM as well though with cancelling games and the demonstrations, convicts name on the mounds and black lines everywhere.

You would think that would be the last thing people cut during the last 8 months sitting at home with Cabin Fever.

Really? Everyone cut cable? That usually means they cut Internet too as they come in a bundle.

So are the low ratings because people are crowded around Candlelight reading Charles Dickens' novels while eating Porridge and dreaming about getting a Pony to ride to work?

I mean what year are you talking about? Where people can't live 5 minutes without being connected.

It’s all relative though

Seriously asking, when is the last time World Series game 1 outdrew the NBA finals game 1?

I was under the impression the NBA was destroying baseball recently

Not shocking, terrible match up.

Dodgers should wipe the rays off the field. Tampa has a weak hitting lineup. Hitting .199 for playoffs(going into gam e 1), that's not bad, that fricking inept. And it's not like they are just cold, they aren't a good hitting team at all. Randy A has saved their arse in the playoffs.

I mean obviously something happened with the NBA

They went from crushing the MLB to being behind it. How is that not noticeable to some people? Even the Commisoner of the NBA announced it
