Looks like they are trying to appeal to the 'neck demographic. Brad Paisley will be twanging up the NA today. Shouldn't they have done that in Texas? There are like 4 country music fans in L.A. county.

Final adjusted ratings are in and last night's game is actually UP from 2015.

Not surprised. I wouldnt expect ratings to hit last years but despite having a larger fan base than say the white sox the Mets are still the second team in New York whereas the Dodgers are the 1 team in LA. Houston has a larger fanbase/market than Kansas city and based off the ALCS isnt an anchor on the ratings (I understand the Yankees were the primary driver of the ALCS)

ETA looking at the article this actually is somewhat surprising

I have watched almost every World Series since I was a kid because I am a fan of the game. I never really cared what the storylines were or who was even playing. Unless you work, are a student, or have some family emergency, I don't see how you can be a baseball fan and not watch the World Series. It's not like there was anything better to watch on TV last night. I guess I'm just wired differently. Hell, if I was a Dodgers fan who hadn't sniffed a World Series in 29 years I would have left work early to catch the start of the game. I guess no one in LA gets any sick/vacation days?

Do rating account for people out watching the game at a bar? I think a large chunk of viewers here in L.A. are out celebrating the game and not watching at home. Traffic is a bitch!

this has nothing to do with how the game rated in LA. It's talking about nationally. The entire east coast probably doesnt give a shite about this series and it still was the most watched game 1, sans last year, in 7 years

started at 5 PM Tuesday on the west coast

this fricking sucks...I get off work at 6:00. I was streaming the game from 5-6 and then listened on the radio until I got home to catch the last couple of innings.

Took people 2 1/2 hours to get to the game yesterday and they are saying same or worse for today. I'll be avoiding all roads that lead to Dodger Stadium on the way home.

And that's before you even get the traffic for people going to the Laker game. Tonight is going to be awful

YIKES!!! I'll be on surface streets all the way home tonight. Luckily, I can do that relatively easily. At least I don't have to go over the hill or through any of the canyons.

Good point. Bars should be packed out there.

Why not just stop at a bar and watch it? Fighting the traffic here is futile!

OK. But I took into the national perception into consideration in the first half of my post. Unless you have a really busy family life or work, even the East Coasters should be able to to watch 2 100 win teams play one another (and that hasn't happened since 1971). I mean, what the hell else was on TV last night? And no one can bring up the whole "games take too long" crap. It was a well pitched 2:30 game (shortest World Series game in a long time).

yet they probably aren't. I bet the ratings in NYC, Boston, and Philly are nothing special even when the ratings in Houston and LA are. Baseball is a very strong but ultimately regional sport in the 2017 US. It is what it is

I agree. But I don’t get why it’s gotten that way over time. I don’t see what else on TV now is oh so more compelling, but whatever.

My point is that while Houston is the 4th biggest city in the country, it is only the 8th biggest metro area, which makes it what is considered not a large market.

Yeah, you'd think LA/Houston would be a bigger draw than NY/Kansas City.

Huge difference between the Mets and Yankees.
