Because they want Anthony Davis and they want Kyrie to stay?
I'm not sure what other argument there is?
They aren't trading for Josh Hart. They are trading for a top 5 player. And they are trying to make another top 15 player stay.
Ainge has amassed resources for a reason. If the difference between Kyrie and AD on his team or neither is trading Tatum instead of Brown, he trades Tatum.
To be fair, I would take Brown/Smart/3 picks over the Lakers offer as well.

OR Lebron has been heavily recruiting AD and AD wants to go play with Lebron and live in Los Angeles. Also very reasonable.
That's cool, is he going to go there for the MLE? Are the Lakers going to hold open enough cap space in the 19-20 season and throw away one of LeBron's last seasons (the second in a row)?

I mean, I can't answer any of these. After Cousins signing for 5M or whatever nothing will shock me.

Presumably AD won't be coming off of an injury that very few players ever recover from, but I understand your point.
