You serious? This is common knowledge in NBA circles.

1. I'm not in NBA circles, and neither are you, so we can't be sure.

2. I'm an NBA fan and wasn't aware.

Are yall forgeting that CP3 was originally traded to the Lakers but that Stern blocked the trade and sent him to the Clippers instead? Is that not relevant in this discussion???

you're arguing that it was ok for them to put aside all the really bad stuff he did then becuase choices were limited? Really?

Yes. Happens all the time in the NBA, believe it or not.

There was everything rational about that analogy--that's why I used it.

and blake griffin, jamal crawford, jj reddick, etc

deandre jordan did sign with GS and the clips matched, so i'll give him a pass. obviously anybody on rookie contracts had no say so, so they get a pass.

So you're telling me that Chris Paul's choices were limited in where he could play? Think about that.

Yea yea, totally. Except for the part where one is a slave and had zero choice and the slave owner fed them and gave them food so they could continue to be slaves and do the things the owner needed them to do compared to freely choosing to sign a contract with 1 team when 25 more would gladly take you.

Other than that, you nailed it!

OK. I've posted defending a view I couldn't disagree with more and ran circles around you last night and you have wanted max punishment for someone because you didn't like what they said.you not liking what they said and screaming for punishment is what emotional investment is

This is nonsense. He sees African Americans as things to have for his entertainment. He can treat a much younger, attractive, minority female as his plaything. You can be racist and do that. In fact, it is quite racist to act this way.

Thank you. I've been trying unsuccessfully to put that into words for the last couple of days. I just couldn't seem to find the right phrasing. You hit the nail on the head.

from everything i've read, it doesn't. sounds like he is going to try to get 29 owners to vote to change the constitution to add this in, and then retroactively use it against sterling. this will lead to litigation as sterling sues the NBA

Mark Cuban has already come out and said he's likely to oppose any such action because of the precedent it sets.

it's been pretty heavily reported that the NBA constitution (which is secret) only contains provisions to take over a team/remove an owner if financial issues are in play.

You can't be serious. Sterling paid a record fine in 2009 to the government after they sued him for discriminating against blacks and hispanics. Everybody in the NBA knew he was a racist.

It's funny because I think based on everything, not just this 1 event, the NBA and even the owners should absolutely not want this dude owning a team, but if I'm an owner, there's no way i'm voting to remove another owner. Can't set that precdent, I'd much rather try to put pressure to force him to make the decision to sell.

Cuban's comments were on Inside the NBA last night...said it's a very slippery slope setting a precedent where you can take someone's team for private comments/opinions.
