So other high profile athletes should get smaller contracts because they get endorsements as well? That’s also not how it works

Clark should probably be making millions.
I'm sure she is with her endorsements

Not sure how you got that from what I said, but that is not what I meant. I simply stated that that is how she can make the extra money now. With every team in the league in the red, it's hard to justify a million dollars to one player.
Right now, the pay is constrained mostly by the TV contract. A lot will change when the new TV contract takes effect. The WNBA will go from being in the red to being in the black overnight. At that point, it would make sense for stars to negotiate for more money. I'm also not sure what the current CBA, if there is one, is like for the WNBA. Several players you mentioned are also on their rookie contract.

Not at all.

The reality is, if they can get people watching the games, they get bigger & bigger media deals; then they may finally start making money.
You are right.
That said, the way to gain viewers is not to complain about salaries. If you wanna push a Clark/Reese rivalry, fine. I mean, I’m not tuning in, but someone else might.
I agree with a previous poster. They need to market themselves to women and the sector of the population that shares their values. Complaining that men don’t watch isn’t going to magically make us tune in.

Man you are so inclusive of those less fortunate than you! What would your comrades on DU dot com think of the way you are conducting yourself??
In all seriousness, what you said was an ignorant exaggeration. I’d love to hear you explain how you came to the conclusion that people (especially the white ones) are ‘ViOlEnTLy oPpOsEd’ to women’s sports. It makes no fricking sense. NOBODY here has once mentioned that all women’s sports need to end. It was an asinine statement by you. Explain yourself

I always find it odd when white men are violently opposed to women's sports.
You managed some hyperbole AND single out white guys. I’m curious what a male demographic breakdown is when it comes to women’s sports viewing.
It’s simple…I watch what is entertaining. I’ll watch women compete in Olympic sports. I’ve tuned into women’s golf, softball, even tennis. They’re talented athletes, and they’re not shoving any agendas down my throat and whining about being watched and accepted. If you’re suggesting white men don’t watch the WNBA because of race, you’re mistaken.

You think Caitlin Clark is only making a million a year from endorsements?

Forbes can say something is worth a certain number, but can those franchises actually be sold for that number?

Another reason the other players seeth over Clark.

Currently, I believe they could be.
Regardless of our feelings on the WNBA's talent level, viability, etc... it seems the teams / league have become interesting investment opportunities.
It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

The expansion fee was $250 million, so yes

From what I'm reading:
- Rookie contract with the Indiana Fever - $338,056 over 4 years
- Nike endorsement deal - 28 million over 8 years
- Earned an estimated $3.1 million via NIL while at Iowa
- Signature collection of basketballs and other items with Wilson Sport Goods
- Endorsement deal with Gatorade
- Endorsement deal with State Farm
- She's also partnered with Xfinity, Gainbridge, Panini & Hy-Vee
I didn't dig too deeply, so I don't have exact numbers for some of these, but it's definitely a lot more than I thought.

No idea, hence the word probably. Hence means for this reason, since your grasp of the language seems tenuous.
It appears her endorsement deals are estimated at around 11 million per year.

That is the price to buy into the league. Can the owner sell it for a profit in six months?

What a goal post move

Six months? Who knows.
But the franchise fees were in the $50-$75 million range for the Golden State and Toronto WNBA franchises not even 9 months ago.
The Toronto Fire's fee will be $125 million and the current going rate is $250 million.
I'd say in a year's time, it'd be prudent for an investor who is dead set on owning a team, to pay at minimum the $250 (but likely more with the way these franchise fees are rising).

No, it's a question. $250 mill is not a market value, it's a set price.
