its a travesty that Dilfer and Brad Johnson are not in the Hall of Fame while crappy Dan Marino (O super bowl rings) is in.

See...this is the dumbest straw man that you people bring up. Everyone knows that Dilfer and Brad Johnson rode the coats of their teams' defenses. Yeah...they have a Super Bowl ring but they are not the ones most responsible for getting their team to a Super Bowl. Dan Marino was most responsible for getting his team to the Super Bowl in '84. Yeah...he didn't win it but no one can deny he was a great QB. However....because of his lack of success in the postseason, very few people will ever rank him among the absolute greatest QBs to ever play the game. Meaning...if Mount Rushmore was made up of great NFL QBs, Marino would not be on that mountain. Those spots are reserved for QBs who had the hardware AND the stats.

I've thought about it a long time, and argued with a ton of football fans about it, and have finally reached the conclusion that Romo is a 65/35 player-- 65% of the time, you want him over the league average. 35% you beg for an average performance of just not screwing the pooch.

Romo suffers because he's touted as something other than 'Hey, that guy is pretty good. He could not completely @$%! a competent football team'; when he's playing well, he's just a step or two behind the great QBs at the top of the league-- and when he plays poorly, he's not but a step or two from the bottom echelon of starters.

So has Ben Roethlisberger.

Ben had a dominant OL for half his career and has had a dominant defense for almost every season of his career.

Regardless, that doesn't matter as I'd never claim Romo has had a better career than Big Ben. Being worse than Big Ben, however, doesn't make you the shite-cake most on here claim he is.

Maybe that is true for his first few years and his first super bowl win, but since at least 2007 they have had a pretty poor o-line.

Do you have a hard on for romo? EVERYTIME there's a thread about romo you have to post in it. Every single time. We get it dude. You think romo sucks. The cowboys could do better at QB.

So if you owned the cowboys what would you do? Cut romo?
Trade him for Brady or Peyton manning? I'm sure it's as easy as picking up the phone and making their teams an offer for them right?

You saying the dumb shite you say about romo just proves you don't know a damn thing about football except what espn tells you to think

Because ESPN were the first people to pioneer the philosophy that championships impact a quarterback's legacy and perceived greatness.

And, for the record, I don't think Romo sucks. Mark Sanchez sucks and I'm sure all of us here can agree that Tony Romo > Mark Sanchez. I happen to think Romo is one of the better QBs in the league. He is not elite, however. As I said above, the drop off separating the good QBs from the elite QBs is pretty significant.

So when Tony Romo throws for 5,000 on the season, that would greatly diminish Brees's record right?

What records? Romo isn't going to break Brees's record for the year, he isn't going to break the TD streak, he isn't going to break the TD's in a year Streak, What are you asking again?

If Romo had recievers like Colston, henderson, Moore, Meachem and Graham he would have had 5K by now.

Wouldn't it mean Brees breaking Marino's record for passing yards not all that special? Since <5,000 is becoming so commonplace. By the logic of this board.

I agree with this. I think Namath throwing for 4,007 back in the day was a bigger thing.

With all those "impressive" records. How many Super Bowl wins does Brees have? The defense won the only super he played in.

I know, cause they didn't score any points amiright?

Oh and to answer your question..

I'll just leave this here for you..

quote:

Brees executed the gameplan almost flawlessly en route the MVP and the Super Bowl win, completing 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

More than romo.
