Saints fans always trying to measure dicks against a franchise with 5 Super Bowl trophies and 8 Super Bowl appearances
This is how stupid they are
Brees throws for 5,000 yds-greatest QB of all time
Romo throws for 5,000 yds- ho hum. Everybody throws for 5,000 yds

Brees breaking the passing record was impressive but not near as impressive as when Dan Marino set it. Marino threw for over 5,000 yards in 1984. It would be nearly 25 years before someone (Brees) would do it again. Seeing as 4 other quarterbacks have done it since Brees threw for 5,000+ in 2008, I think it has more to do with the rules restricting what the defense can do than it does anything else.

So it was impressive 4 yrs ago but "everybody" (4 actually) throws for it now so it don't mean nothing.
I think you just find any thing you can to slight tony romo because you have some personal vendetta to make sure nobody thinks he might possibly be a great QB
What will you say if Dallas wins Sunday and romo throws for 300+ yds and 3 tds? I'm sure you will just move your argument to something else because you saw a couple highlights of romo throwing an int on espn back in 08

In hindsight the feat isn't as impressive as it seemed in 2008.

it has been a long time since dallas has had success. It actually comes across as pathetic when dallas fans try to measure dicks with the current saints franchise.

x3 and will lead the NFL in TD's for his 4th season (NFL record). Brees also did it years before everyone else in the NFL started doing it with very beat up and below average receivers.

Romo's having a great season and has always been a good QB. Comparing him to Brees, however, is laughable.

It is more of an indication that you were in a lot of close games than anything else. Case in point, Manning's best team was the 2005 Colts, who won the first 13 games by at least 7 points.
Brees broke the record while the Saints had the largest margin of victory in the NFL.

Another great read
I agree. He's at the top of his game. Problem is, his game isn't good enough to get him to "elite" status. A good QB, but not a great one.

And I don't have anything against brees. That's just the Qb the other posters kept mentioning. I think brees and romo are very similar.
Only difference to me is Brees has had stability his entire career in New Orleans with both the coaching staff and the players surrounding him
If Sean Payton would have succeeded parcells in Dallas I don't think there's any doubt romo and Dallas would have won a Super Bowl in the past 5 years

Don't the saints throw the ball 50 times a game?
Posted on 12/27/12 at 8:27 pm to RollTide1987
So what gets him there? There isn't a Qb in the league playing better than Romo right now so I don't know what else somebosy has to do.
You can say winning a Super Bowl but only a lazy stubborn moron thinks Qbs win Super Bowls all by themselves
He has the 4th best QB rating of all-time. How is that average? And this is only his 6th season so he's got plenty time to go up whereas Brees is clearly reached his peak and his career is on the down side. Still a great Qb but won't be what he has been in the past

true, but when a QB has one of the best playoff runs in NFL history he separates himself.
9 touchdowns to 0 interceptions with numerous records along the way

we throw a lot, which makes Brees breaking the completion % record twice even more impressive. We also had one of the best rushing attacks last season and set the NFL record for most yards in a season while leading the NFL in point differential.

maybe, but he looks like the same old brees the last 2 weeks and is only 33 years old (younger than brady and manning). He's 1 season removed from one of the greatest in NFL history and still leads the NFL in touchdowns this year.

I never said Brees wasn't a great Qb. He was the best in the league a few years back. I'm talking about Romo getting recognized as a great Qb in his own right
Dallas would be 3-12 without Romo right now. And in his short career hasn't had much stability. He has had 3 different head coaches and several different role players surrounding him.
I just think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. And before anybody says he's overrated or gets too much hype please turn on ESPN tonight andd watch how many reports Ed Werder does about how Romo can't get it done etc etc
