I really don’t think a buyout that large was necessary to get Taggart in the first place. Dumb move by FSU. Pay the man.

From the first game they were making excuses for him. Saying he was implementing his "system"...etc etc
My best guess is thatbthe recruiting wasnt going great, so they figured a home run hire would at least salvage that.

In 2018 Sumlin made more money then any football coach in the nation, NFL coaches included.
A&M paid him $10.4 million and Arizona paid him $2MM. He won 5 games.
With only 4 wins and games @oregon & Utah still remaining, he is likely to miss out on a bowl again. But his job is safe, because if the fire him after this season they owe him a $10 million buyout.
Instead he will get a $1.5 million raise. He didn't take over a bad team, Rich Rod had them in a bowl 5 of his 6 years, including the Fiesta.
