Like we did back in the early to mid 90’s with Nolan Richardson’s Arkansas team. Full court press from start to finish, running fresh players in constantly to keep the pressure on.They were really fun to watch. I wonder why coaches don’t try this system today

No. The system takes too much energy and is a loser on the road. Teams with more athleticism than you can beat it easily.

Never, it doesn't work in today's game.

Speaking of, they were the first NCAA team to run the full-court press under Wooden in 1962.

No.

But Ed O'Bannon wanted to get paid by the NCAA and EA Sports.

UAB tried it a few years ago. They made a nice run but was flexed on by Duke I believe.

Shaka Smart ran a 1-2-1-1 full court press while at VCU and it was a big part of them making it to the Final 4.

ETA: Somebody beat me too it.

They didn’t get annihilated but that UCLA team was one of the better national championship teams I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Good guardplay will destroy the press. There was a vcu game against Michigan a few years back and Michigan ate them alive.

When Arkansas had Thurman, Williamson and those guys and played the 40 minutes of Hell, that was the hardest place to win at. It was loud as hell and it was nothing but pressure. Those were some stud athletes. Pressing all game takes some extremely athletic guys. It's just too hard for most teams to even consider. But it was awesome when Richardson ran it for quite some time.

They won it all and were runner up in consecutive years. Arkansas hasn't won an SEC title since 1994 when they were best at running 40 minutes of hell under Richardson. Hard to believe they have gone that long without an SEC Title considering how great their program was.

West Virginia has been doing it since Huggins got there. It just isn't noticable this year because their guards are bad and they can't run it effectively.

His Cincinnati teams were ruthless with their pressing

The truth of the 94 NC and 95 teams was they played slower than the teams before them

That team could and would go big to mismatch you with Tank Corliss and Stewart or Wilson

They then would go small moving Corliss to the 5

They didn’t really press you like the Day Huery Mayberry teams

Richardson’s Runts in 93 were fun to watch The best Arkansas team got beat in Final Four in 90

Rule changes and more media timeouts make it harder to win with now.

In today's game, its harder to wear teams down and you tend to get called for too many fouls to keep the pace up + the other team beats you with free throws.

Also more athletic tall guys and stretch 4s that can run and handle the ball make the press harder.
