He has never made the Sweet 16 as a head coach.
He managed to get freaking McNeese into the 2nd round of the tourney last year for the first time in their history after upsetting 5th-seeded Clemson. I'm guessing the Sweet 16 is just a matter of time with some decent talent.

Congrats to Matt McMahon for getting the biggest win in his time at LSU last night.
Not surprised at who OP is. The guy is the definition of mouth breather.

The debate among LSU "fans" is one of the more illogical arguments I've seen on the board. I say the term fans loosely, because I can't see how any LSU basketball fan would not want the HC back who had the best winning % at the school in 100 years and the longest sustained period of winning in the last 35 years. I guess, unless you didn't like watching your team consistently win and compete with the best teams in the league.
Mostly, this stupid debate is driven by hyperbole...on both ends of the argument. No, Wade is not the best HC in America. He wasn't even the best HC in the SEC when he was fired. But he most certainly didn't "suck", nor has he ever "sucked" in his 12-year career. And if LSU hired him this spring, he'd be the most accomplished HC LSU has hired (at the time of hire) in decades.
I fall in the crowd of I like predictable results. Could LSU land a HC with the next hire who turns out to be one of the best in the nation? That is certainly possible...but past history says it's also unlikely. LSU hired 3 HCs after Brown retired. None had sustained success. LSU has hired 1 coach after Wade was fired. He's been the worst LSU basketball coach since at least the 1960's. That suggests the odds LSU hits big on the next HC hire are probably pretty low. So I would take the guy who I have SEEN have success at LSU...and everywhere else over a "maybe"...which is likely what the next hire for LSU will be because that is the nature of college basketball. LSU is not going to get a "Lane Kiffin" type hire in basketball.
For comparison's sake, let's look at the resume of what will likely be the most sought after mid-major HC this season, Josh Schertz:
50 years old
13 years as a D-2 HC. 10 D-2 tournaments, 3 D-2 Final Fours
5 seasons as a D-1 HC. NONE at a major conf. school
D1 winning % .654.
0 NCAA Tournament appearances (TBD this season)
Wade's resume
43 years old
12 seasons as a D-1 HC
6 seasons at major conf. schools
D1 winning % .704
Major conf. winning % .679
7 NCAA Tournament appearances (TBD this season)
When you put them side by side there is NO comparison as to who has the better resume when looking to hire a D-1 major conf. coach. Yet, for some, if you stick the name "Will Wade" on the top of the second resume that resume suddenly "sucks".

Will Wade was a better LSU coach than McMahon, obviously, but that doesn't mean we can't do better than Will Wade with our next coach.
I'd take him back, but I think with the way Verge works, we're going to aim higher.

The LSU fans that try and convince themselves Wade isn’t a good coach are infinitely more retarded than those who they label “Wade sycophants.”
Not even McMahon loses by 40!!! Hang the fricking banner next to the “we only lost to SCar because of loose rims” banner you fricking pirate gloyt

I agree. Although we need a similar profile in terms of fan engagement and willingness to work the booster network. History shows we need that type of guy to generate fan support.
Wade has limitations and is too married to data (see vandy always shooting a billion percent from 3 because he plays percentages and refuses to run off the corner shooters.) But imagine thinking this guy can’t coach and hitching your butt pirate wagon to the worst coach in school history. Downvote farming retards.

Even McMahon doesn't suck that bad
McMahon hasn't even sniffed the tournament here.... wade has NC St in position to at least make the tournament. This is an insanely stupid comment and shows your bias on the issue
Wade isn't the greatest coach of all time, but he was building LSU into a consistent winner, something not many before him and certainly not after have been able to do here.
Yes, McMahon sucks worse by a large margin but hey sure use 1 fricking game as the basis of your entire argument....idiot
