so you wanna do the college bullshite and play football for an hour
not at all.

Both teams get ball once and then sudden death

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Why wasn't the Bush's brought back out to flip OT?

I'd have to imagine that was just too much to ask of them. I'm not a huge Bush fan, but the little American inside of me felt awful seeing him like that.

So it would still be unfair.

Both teams score a TD. First team gets it back and scores. Game over. One team had more possessions than the other.

College OT is much better.

People whine about college OT and how it doesn't represent real football, but I always go back to penalty kicks and shootouts. It's different but still part of the game. And it's entertaining as hell. I'd love to see it in the NFL. OT in the NFL is such a snooze fest.

Give up a 25 point 4th quarter lead, you don't even deserve OT.

You idiots are missing the point. Yes, Atlanta didn't deserve to win.

NFL OT still sucks. College OT is much better.

The college OT sucks for numerous reasons. 1) The second team who gets possession has a huge strategic advantage because they know whether or not they need to go for it on fourth down or kick a field goal. At least in NFL OT, both teams know what they have to do to have a chance to win the game when they take the field. 2) College OT has different rules than regulation and it takes special teams completely out of the equation outside of the kicking game. It doesn't really feel like a normal game because there are no kickoffs or punts and field position doesn't mean a damn thing.

This is an apples and oranges comparison. Goals in soccer are a lot harder to come by than field goals and touchdowns in soccer. If you have two offensively challenged teams, the match could drag on forever. Plus there is no stoppage in play or breaks for players in soccer. They do not get any rest outside of halftime and the brief break between regulation and OT. If you just have them keep playing until a team scores a goal and breaks the tie, it could cause dire physical consequences for the players.

because at least both teams get a shot

Team just lost a world championship without a chance to answer

Yes, they melted. Point is that game was tied at end of regulation

It sucked for Minnesota to lose that way to saints in nfc title game, and it sucks here

For the record, I am a saints fan that loathes the falcons. Still does not make the system right

You're aware they changed he rules after that, and the Vikings would have had a chance to respond under the current rules, right?

This game and that one are not the same.

yes

I would argue they are same because a game ended after one possession without an opportunity to respond
