Very true. You’re expected to beat all the shitty teams. And it’s good if he never drops any of those games. But when you lose almost all the games where teams match up talent wise, you’re just not a great coach. Ohio State has higher standards.

If he can hang on long enough for Raiola’s arrival (who may be top 5 best HS QBs I have ever seen) he has a shot. But he has to win in Ann Arbor next year to keep his job, or at least play with heart. I just don’t see that happening with McCord or Brown at QB.

The point still remains that he runs through a shitty schedule and can’t beat a team that has the talent to match up. I’ll give you Clemson in 2020, but when else? Day’s teams have been soft as baby shite

He's coached two full seasons so far, so...

Dude split a game a piece with Clemson, lost to Bama like everyone else, beat Utah, lost to Oregon, and beat Notre Dame and TCU.

and Michigan doesn't even have star for star talent compared to OSU

Osu recruits itself due to name. Day inherited talent also. He has one or two tough match ups a year, and he usually gets outcoached. This year really showed how bad of a coach he is. He struggled with half his games, and a couple were to scrub schools

He ain’t winning shite until his teams play with better discipline and he establishes a run first offense.

He also needs to hand off the playcalling duties. He’s gotten worse every season.

I really hope Ohio State keeps Day a while. With all the talent they pull in I’d hate to see them with a better than average coach.

It is dumb. He can definitely turn things around. People are way overreacting

Turn things around? He's getting worse. And now the big 10 is getting better coaches than him. Day is probably the 4th or 5th best coach in the big 10 next season.
If Rhule, Fickell, Franklin or Harbaugh had OSU'S talent, they would have better teams than Day. Harbaugh already does.

Yes and no.

Hartline seems to be awesome at identifying, recruiting and developing receivers.

The rest of the team is full of blue chips as well, but the sum is less than the total of the parts for some reason.

A little over a year ago, Ed Orgeron was in that group.

Just saying.

Orgeron wasn't 45-5 and had two consecutive .500 seasons. If Day gets there, I'll grab my pitchfork.

Maybe he'll win his first CFP game this season.

I think Day should lean into the basketball on grass thing.

Right now, theyre not built to go out physical Michigan. So, why not try and boatrace them.

Wont always work, but its a better play than trying to do what Michigan does but better.

Saban, Kirby, Dabo, Day and I think you’re forgetting Chip…?

4 had to build a program to achieve that playoff win.

Saban and Kirby were in much better positions to build those teams than Dabo and Chip were, but build they did.

Putting Ryan Day in the same breath as those guys is ridiculous.

ETA: Was that Helfrich guy at Oregon that year? Either way, my point still stands.

So, if he goes 11-1 with same loss next year, he’s out? That’s crazy. In four years, Ryan Day is 45-5 (31-2) with two playoff appearances and a playoff win. Two of his five losses are in the playoffs.
