I think thats a Patrick Fertitta question.

They are too busy trying to buy a WNBA franchise

For what? Tilman doesnt strike me as a feminist guy, if he hasnt become that at this point with his networth (usually the social justice disorder strikes top 0.01%ers) then I dont think he ever wil be.
WNBA teams are still super un profitable. What am I missing?
Is this for some ESG tax break? Absolutely no one gives a shite about the WNBA even with Caitlin Clark.
Probably a Fertitta Jr. USC business school idea.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I asked for an NHL team for Christmas, and Santa is going to give me a WNBA franchise.

Houston had a hockey team that had one of the great families in Hockey playing for them.
I lived there then and people had the pro football, the pro baseball and the pro basketball teams. And back then the drive into the downtown within the loop stadiums was miserable (roads were not as wide as today, and there weren't as many pay freeways (sic).
Areos were always top 10 in minor league hockey attendance
Summit also wasn't downtown. Despite 59/610 being the most miserable driving in the city, i contend it is a better location for the Rockets than downtown. That is if you are a west Houston honky

in between seething about removing bike lanes no one uses

City of 7 million people and 2/3rds of the posts are dedicated to ICE and bike lanes

1/3 Lina Hidalgo is fantastic and her mental breakdowns are actually a good thing

I went to Aeros games at The Summit a good bit. Really fun. You could get glass side seats by the penalty box or bench for like $20-25.

I love trolling r/houston. echo chamber in the truist sense. There will be a topic and no matter what, it will fall back on "hot wheels" Perry's fault or because of MAGA.

all you need to do is set your flair to river oaks and people will seethe at anything you post

Expansion in the league is coming not sure exactly when but eventually Houston and Atlanta seem like the most likely options
Posted on 12/19/25 at 6:38 pm to SwaggerCopter
I wish, but they seem to be more interested in bringing the WNBA back to Houston instead.

Yet its been the southern/Sun Belt teams dominating the NHL pretty much the entire decade
None of the fans for those teams show up when they suck

And that exclusively a problem in the South?

I don’t understand or care about the WNBA thing.
From what I know the Friedkins, who own Everton and Roma, are the group interested in backing the NHL that the league has been working with. Obviously Fertitta needs to play ball with them to let them use Toyota and figure out how to finance changes for it to hockey. Toyota is also pretty dated by US arena standards, which I’m sure is an issue. The stadiums are controlled by the Harris County sports authority, which I am not going to pretend to understand, but I think Tillman needs to be on board to get anything done in regards to changing Toyota
I don’t see Fertitta being easy to deal with on the arena front and I don’t see there being an appetite for another hockey only arena in the Houston area (we definitely don’t need one) so I am pretty pessimistic on it

Texans and HLSR are rattling sabres.
Toyota was fitted with an ice surface fairly recently
They're starting to refit the area around George Brown Convention Center and Daikin Park already . freeways being moved
That's gonna be a lot of taxpayer dollars. They go into the area and facilities, infrastructure
But there's also going to be a call for events that will bring in tax dollars spent
But Harris County Sports Authoritydoes not benefit in any way shape or form by sales tax dollars
Beds on heads tax only'
so they're gonna have to figure out a way provide funding for all of this

If you're gonna hop on a bandwagon then support America's Team, the Florida Panthers.
