He was actually really nice & personable at a baseball clinic that I attended when I was about 14. It was on a weekend at the old Alex Box, circa '92. He was my favorite player, and I went to the 1B drill session, despite the fact that I was a catcher. I just wanted to be coached by Will the Thirll for a few minutes. That being said, most MLB players are jerks, so I have little trouble believing some of the stories I've read about him.

The man could flat out rake...assholery is often downplayed when you are highly skilled.

Maybe I should get me some high skills..it may help cut down on the frequency of which my mailbox is baseball-batted.

Hopefully a former blue jay can confirm or deny a great story I heard about him when he was at Jesuit. I heard this from a guy who graduated the same year as him and the story goes that he was dating a girl and it was her birthday so he got her an air brushed t shirt with his picture on it , autographed it and gave it to her. I really hope it's true because that is a Badass move for a teenager to pull off

I visited his HS after he became a star. I asked one of the teachers "Why do you have Rusty Staub's trophies but nothing from Will Clark?"

Him: "Because Will Clark was an insufferable person. Teachers and students disliked him intensely."

Could be said about anyone from Jesuit.

Just kidding.

I don't. I played a couple of rounds of golf with him at CCL and he could not have been nicer.

Maybe betas don't understand the difference between intense and a-hole.

Eh, I disagree. Saban is said to be intense, but deep down you and I know darn well he's a jerk.

I would say "know how I know you're a beta", but if I did you would think I'm an a-hole too!

The story about the air brush shirt certainly did not happen in high school. It could have happened after but it did NOT happen in high school.

Dear friends with several of his team mates and coaches over the years....just like anyone else some positives some negatives....

You guys talk today about how many games kids play today and that they have no life.......if any of y'all knew will when he was young y'all knew what he was doing every free moment he had

He coached 1b in a game my son played in this year he was very nice to my son and complimentary.... That's my most recent dealing with him so I'll go with that...

Forgot how old I was but when I was little, my dad and I use to go watch the Jackson (MS) Generals a lot. Will Clark was my favorite player growing up. One weekend, he was playing a rehab assignment for the Tulsa Drillers, and they were playing in Jackson. We got there early because I really wanting his autograph. It was a long line along the fence passed the visitor's dugout. I was the 4th kid in line, but ol' Willie started at the end of the line signing autographs. He got 3 kids away from me (7 from signing everyone's) and said, "Sorry kids, I'm done for today." And I haven't liked him since.
