idc and the individual players you like more or less aren't the point anyway

the point is the starting barometer for anyone is whether they are a legitimate NFL starting QB. I feel like the jury on Tebow is still out but it looks better for him than it once did earlier this year.

I would put Tebow into the "I dunno" category right now

Put a gun to my head and make me guess and I like my list plus probably 5 plus more guys more than I like Tebow as my starter but if someone told me he ended up being better than Dalton, Newton, Freeman, Bradford etc? I guess I'd believe them

That is better than most games "The most dangerous player in the NFL" had back in the day.

but most people in those days were calling Vick a player out of position. I remember reading Jason Whitlock column on why Vick should be moved to WR.

Even when he got out of jail, no one thought he would be brought back in as a full time qb. He was supposed to be the situational/slash/gadget/wildcard qb.

Tebow has gotten about the same grief that other running qbs got (Cunningham, McNabb, McNair, Kordell, Vick, etc.) Even though their teams won, their ability to throw from the pocket was always harped on. How many times did you hear "He must learn how to throw from the pocket" or "He won't be able to sustain the season running around like that".

I could definitely see that. Sanchez is definitely a better passer, but he is not good by any metrics save for the New York media.

FWIW, I really do not know where I would rank Tebow. Somewhere in the 20's is most likely. There is no way he or Sanchez are top 15.

The apprehension about Tebow translating to the NFL game was definitely warranted because he had a lot of question marks in his game. But then it started turning into a critique of every single pass he threw as if he's the first young QB to struggle throwing the ball and that he'd never improve.

I don't mind apprehension or questioning, but the vitriol and mocking that accompanied a Tebow start, or even him sitting on the bench, was unreal. Yeah, it was like they dissected everything he did.

Obviously, he was capable of improving so they were all wrong. No big deal that they were wrong. They are wrong all the time.

If they had said, "I think he is going to struggle," it would have been one thing. But, they were laughing, shaking their heads, mocking - it was over the top, in my opinion.

His critics have made him, though. If it weren't for them, he would not be as big a story as he is.

I don't disagree with that. He is getting better, though. This is only his 12th start and he is getting better every week.

I've just never seen a 2nd year QB that we knew was going to be a project get hated on like Tebow was. I mean, Jake Locker was a first round QB taken the same year who is a backup and he hasn't done more than Tebow, nor has he gotten the criticism.

We didn't even see Aaron Rogers play for 3 years or so after he was drafted.

But, I will say this: Matt Flynn needs to get away from the Packers and go start somewhere. When guys like Gabbert and even Tebow are starting in the NFL, he has no business sitting on the bench for 4 years in Green Bay. He's in his late 20's now. Get on with it, Matt.

they were critical because they realized he is not a viable long term NFL QB. HE has proven it nearly every week. As well as today.

For him to win, the defense must play decent, they must force turnovers, and they must not turn the ball over themselves.

the ran the ball down NE throats and the game was never close after the 2nd Q. That says something

the first half they ran at will.

they fell behind and have to pass more, which we know Tebow cannot do. That is why they got blown out

-3 in TO margin pretty much kills teams regardless of QB.

Special teams return game was crap on top of it.

I don't know, there is only what four elite QB's, and a handful more who can carry a team for a couple of games each year, then the rest who needs "the defense must play decent, they must force turnovers, and they must not turn the ball over themselves."

Yet, you only hear about Tebow's flaws, not Haine's, Orlasky(sp??) etc. every day, every week.

They also aren't given all the credit when they win, nor are they EVER talked about in the media.

Fine, but Tebow is not acting like T.O. by bringing attention to himself.

I don't get why Tebow was such a big topic before the season or his first start this year, but ESPN made it a big deal. Why?

How is he bringing attention to himself? By thanking God?

He gets asked questions and he answers.

Turnovers.

And, the Denver defense could not cover the TE across the middle or a back out of the backfield. Denver's defense was terrible today.

He's definitely improved. I responded to LE last week with this when he said Tebow hadnt improved.

quote:

Starting with his 1st half of play against San Diego and ending with Kansas City he completed 43 of 105 passes(about 41%). Since then from NJY to CHI he has gone 49 out of 93 which is a bout 53%. Not saying that's good, but it's definitely an improvement. His yards per attempt has gone from 5.76 in those 1st five games to 7.3 in the last 4 as well.

I saw a whole lot of "God" gestures today by players not wearing 15.

There is a Steeler safety that makes more "God" gestures in a game than Tebow does in a season.

But Tebow is begging for attention like TO.

You act like that is an easy task. If it wasnt the TE over the middle I guarentee you it would have been Welker underneath
