Even if they didn't see it (I believe they did for sure), what did they think happened before the end of the video that everyone saw? Did they think a magical fairy unicorn popped her on the head with a pumpkin and knocked her out?

The way the Ravens and NFL acted yesterday like they were so shocked by the now released video is insulting to everyone's intelligence.

The NFL has mismanaged this Ray Rice incident so much, it's hard to say what all is gonna happen but itsr far from over.

You need to dissect the source of that morality. You will find it all comes down to a) fear of judgment, or b) simply wanting to feel good about yourself. So all morality, at the end of the day, is driven by selfish goals.

I'm certain they saw it.
It doesn't even matter much to me.

Either you saw it and made a massive cover up lie or you never bothered to ask the police or the hotel what was on the video, and they're incompetent in running an investigation.

Sure, the massive cover up is worse, but Goodell and the NFL lose and look ridiculous either way.

The more probable scenario is that the video was not made available to the NFL at the time
I don't see why the hotel or police wouldn't have very simply told the NFL what the contents of the video were if they really wanted to know.

So the more likely assumption is that the NFL did not see this particular video before making its ruling
You usually gotta build up some credibility to get the benefit of the doubt. 50,000 pages of evidence in Bountygate only to dimiss all the penalties when all of the evidence falls through makes it hard to give them that benefit.

I view this as no harm no foul. Rice never played a down this season or received a paycheck yet since the incident. Goodell may have gotten it wrong initially but got it right eventually and the culture will be forever changed in the NFL as a result. So why the timing matter? It's done.
Wowwwww

I would say 100% of people only do the right thing because they are pressured, either by fear of God, social judgment, family acceptance, peer pressure
100% chance you'd be wrong here.

Speaking in absolutes is wrong 99.9999999999% of the time.

It would be illegal for the police to do so. That's why the NFL's defense of their ignorance is so weak. I guarantee you that their attorneys knew that the police and/or prosecutor's office could not legally provide the information they asked for. However, they asked for it so that they could say that they did later while avoiding actually seeing it.

If it isn't willful ignorance, the NFL is the most incompetent multi-billion dollar organization in the history of man. Occam's razor may decapitate Goodell.
