if freaking TMZ was able to get the video, then the NFL could have as well.

TMZ get's everything and let's not act as if they are always ethical about it.

amazing how tags never found himself here. Roger did this to himself...the player conduct policy and his desire to be the sole overseer of it has put him here. good, frick him.

I'm not a fan of the way he has implemented a lot of these policies either, but I'm just talking about this situation here.

how did they lie

because they told others they saw it. Not knowing what was on the tape, they painted the picture (deliberately I might add) that "oh if you saw the video you'd know why he only got 2 games"

the idea was janay was on tape in that elevator doing something that perhaps merited getting a left hook to the jaw.

That was how they painted it though, that's just typical deceit. They flat out lied to reporters to use them to smear her.

The one universal in this: they told everyone they saw that tape...one way or the other, they're lying. They really didn't leave themselves an out here...at least not one that will not spark outrage

I have a feeling goodell is going to pass the buck to an underling who will be the fall guy for telling everyone something via a miscommunication. I think entities like deadspin and tmz are going to dig, they are now, ferociously to uncover proof the NFL has lied yet again

whether or not they could get it is irrelevant to me...they told people they had it. They put on a show without it...and what the frick did they think was on there

they truly never thought we'd get to see it; otherwise you'd think their response would be something better than "un huh"

When did they say they saw it? Like I said I haven't been following this all the way so I'm missing this part.

If the NFL wanted the video, they would have had the video. Ray Rices freaking attorney had it for God's sake. Why in the hell would the NFL not make him show it to them?

I could see there being legal reasons for that. Once again, I don't know so I won't pretend to know.

pick any reporter and go back and read their articles from a month ago. Mortensen's is the most damning..

deadspin has a pretty good roundup of them.

There is no legal reason. So now you know and can pull your head out the sand

Well all I needed was for some random guy on a message board to tell me, thank you for enlightening me. I never should have asked for facts, my bad.

schefter is

mortensen is really trying to not call them out without calling his own report bullshite...however it's pretty hard to explain the description of the video in such detail

that's why I said, it cannot be undone...just from a logical perspective...why did 3 dozen high profile reporters all tweet, post, blog, write and say the same thing simultaneously from the same inside source (the NFL), from various sources... if it didn't happen. Why wouldn't the NFL refute or clarify they hadn't seen it? They respond to absolutely everything.

you really have to be a colossal boob to think the NFL didn't lie here.

what's so wonderfully pathetic is, by the end of the week, everyone is going to go in denial. You can't undo this shite. We all know, everyone knows what they did...but they'll still pretend they didn't because that's how strong the brand is.

I am telling you there is no legal reason the casino or Rices attorney had to not give the tape for the NFL to review. So you can stop saying, "I dont know, i dont know"

Then he is the one I'll have to start following. He is a pretty big name to have refuting the NFL.

How am I supposed to know who can and can't get security tapes?

Willful ignorance is not a good excuse. Being a criminal case, Rice's lawyer had the video. NFL's attorneys should know this. They should've asked to see it. If they didn't, the "head in the sand" excuse won't fly.

I don't believe they didn't see it either. If TMZ has the video how did the nfl not have a leaked copy?

This was really my initial question. Did or didn't they and how do we know for sure which they did. Apparently I offended people by wanting hard facts to go after someone's job and not just word of mouth.

This is kind of what I was getting at too. I believe the NFL made a mistake, although I'm not sure where. I don't know that, just believe that.
