Why isn't Floyd Mayweather as revered as Michael Jordan?

Both arguably faced lower level competition during their careers. Both sustained a level of unbridled success that is very unique in their respective leagues (MJ 6-0 in the PO; Floyd 50-0 overall record). Both are known for their almost manaical work ethic and competitiveness. And both were regarded as somewhat bad people outside of their respective sports (although Floyd had the more egregious offenses with the domestic violence issues). However, I feel like there is an air of reverance that is given to MJ that is not exactly accorded to Floyd. Why isn't Floyd regarded as highly as MJ when it comes to sports icons? Is it because of other boxers like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson who are still regarded by many as the GOATs?

Jordan never faced lower level competition, that’s a false narrative started by LeBoys, so you Jenga’d on your first turn.

You should have went a little more in depth on the MJ vs lower level competition to increase the troll effectiveness. Missed opportunity.

Mayweather is an a-hole and a horrible person. It sells tickets and garners attention cause everybody wants to see him lose. He smartly plays it up. But he makes nothing off endorsements. You can't put his name on any products. Jordan's name and image sells like crazy still.
Level of competition part is a joke. He won a ton of belts in meaningless divisions. There should be one division under 150lbs..

MJ didn't wait until his competition was 38 to play them.
MJ didn't beat his wife.
MJ landed about as many punches on opponents as Floyd did.
MJ can read.

LeBron isn’t the GOAT, it’s gonna be okay

How about the fact that Jordan had one of the most aesthetically pleasing basketball games ever while Floyd was the exact opposite in boxing?

Watching Floyd box later in his career is like watching paint dry.

If you don't mind the constructive criticism, you can't lead off with this and make it too obvious. You can't close with it, either.
It has to be the third or fourth out of, say, six points.

Obviously the slugging matches between brawlers are exciting but Floyd's defense and technique in the ring was must see tv imo.

Weight class is probly the biggest reason. No 150lb boxer is gonna outrank the GOAT basketball player. If he were a heavyweight at 50-0 we’re having a different discussion regardless of style.
