Who doesn’t love to hear the “tink” of a well-hit ball?

Because most of the best players at that age go to the minors.

They need to push the season back in order for the northern schools to get warmer weather to make it a national sport. Don’t understand why baseball starts in February. It needs to start in April.

Because it’s made up of mostly mediocre players who use aluminum bats, and it’s only entertaining if you’re emotionally invested.
maybe in 2000 or even 2010, but now there’s way more major prospects going the collegiate route.

I couldn’t care less if the sport is “relevant” nationwide. I don’t need to hear Stephen A debate Greenie on Omaha.

If you take a person from the northeast to an SEC baseball game it will blow their mind. Most don’t know the culture exists.

I feel like the reason it’s a “non money making” sport is strictly due to the lack of coverage throughout the year.

They've tried featuring it during the regular season numerous times, just does not get the ratings.

Even last year softball CWS ratings were better than mens CWS ratings. You can look it up.

Baseball is a regional sport on all levels. It's ok to love it - I do. But IMHO lack of coverage is not the reason it's not a national sport.

Because the MLB is bigger in most Midwest and Northern states. No one up here is choosing a Mizzou baseball game over the Cardinals or Royals

I love college baseball but the quality of play is poor. It’s not rocket science

So is womens softball but ESPN pushes the frick out of that

Again, they have tried pushing college baseball many times in the past, I can remember as far back as the 80's ESPN showing regular season games a lot and advertising the hell out of them......they just did not get ratings every time they have tried and if "pushing the frick" out of something helped ratings the WNBA would be doing great.

There is a disconnect here because we have grown to love the sport, you can thank Skip for that. In the early 80's baseball was the same here as it still is now at 90% of schools in the country - a minor sport no one really watches or cares about. It took time but Skip made it relevant.

It just isn't in the rest of the country. And honestly it very unlikely it ever will be. And that's o.k. It should not compromise our enjoyment of it.

The quality of college football is complete dogshit if we are comparing to pros

Counterpoint is much of the offensive innovation comes from the college (or even high school) level and is then adopted by the pros.

In that regard, college football is superior to pro.

Nothing about the quality of college basketball or baseball is superior to the pro counterpart.

Right. The same arguments apply to college basketball where there are hundreds of televised games with zero legit NBA talent. Football too, really. Rosters outside the top 20 teams are not laden with NFL players.

College baseball will remain a sport with a niche following, which is fine by me. The MLB
snuffs it out with games on every single day. The limited number of football games allow scheduling for CFB on Saturday and NFL on Sunday. Couldn't work that out with baseball

I will also add that I love college baseball, but I would never consider watching it if I wasn't so tied to my alma mater's athletics.

I don't really get this argument. The MAC might have 1 NFL on the field between both teams and people will still watch those games. Most college basketball teams have no one with any sort of NBA potential and people still watch those games. To me the margin of error being higher is part of the great thing about college sports. It makes it more exciting knowing that a routine play is not always routine and a big inning or big play can happen anytime because of it.

I will watch LSU every time they are on my t.v. for college baseball.

But I'm probably not going to watch any other college baseball game that does not include LSU, unless it has a bearing in some way on LSU, like I watched the last inning of the Indiana - KY game yesterday. Otherwise not a pitch.
