i don't consider outrage over domestic violence or sexual abuse to be overly sensitive or "snowflaky".

Because people that point out other people as being soft are outraged themselves on other topics creating mass hypocrisy. social media has given everyone a platform and justification for their bullshite. If one person out of a million agrees with their feeble minded view then they feel justified.
