What about the "fighting irish"? It directly implies the stereotype of a drunken irish man who wants to fight at the bar.

Not this shite again.

Cleveland "Indians"

Chief Wahoo certainly hasn't gone unnoticed. The Indians have been phasing out (allegedly) the Chief for four or five years.

eta. I would wager that the Redskins' logo would be less offensive it belonged to the Indians. Whereas it would be more offensive for the Redskins to have Chief Wahoo.

if you research it you'll find that 95% of native Americans don't find it offensive and actually use the nickname at their schools and came up with the name for themselves.

And you don't think there may be a little bias in that websites research?

Blackhawks are a tribe from the area. As long as they don't create caricatures of natives, it's not really a matter of racism.

Redskin was a racial slur used to describe Native Americans.
The Sheboygan Redskins were an NBA team in the 1940's and '50's. Was that name intended to be racist, too?

Were owners just naming their team racist names? Or do people from today look back and just assume it's racist even though it really wasn't?

I really hope you aren't this dense.

It's been well documented that the original owner of the Washington Redskins named them that to appeal to a certain demographic of the country.

What does that have to do with the Sheboygan Redskins?

And if the original owner of the Washington Redskins said he purposely named the team a racial slur, then prove it.

University of North Dakota got fricked by the PC shite the most.

They completely honored the Sioux Indian with their logo and traditions. PC frickers got them, they fought for a long time, but NCAA try to cripple them if they didnt give in.

All it takes, is 1 dildo liberal to frick it up for everyone these days. Doesn't matter if 30K approve, knowing that 1 person is offended, trumps the 30K.

Now, Nort Dakota has some shitty, Notre Dame, ND looking logo.

Are you serious? The intent doesn't have to be malicious. Ignorance is enough.

I forgot the details, but I think one Sioux tribe wanted the university to keep the logo, but the other never gave the NCAA an answer, so the NCAA said the logo had to go.

Illinois got screwed, too. They had to give up Chief Illiniwek, even though the only living descendants of the Illini or Illinois Confederation are part of the Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma now. Hell, the state's name is just the French version of Illiniwek.

Ironically, the last Chief Illiniwek costume was donated to Illinois by the chief of a Sioux tribe.

Out of all this dumb sensitive mascot shite, I actually, somewhat, understand how "Redskins" can be offensive. According to Native Americans they interviewed on ESPN, its the equivalent of calling a team "Ni***rs" or "Zipperheads". People in this country are so separated from Reservation society that I think we just don't realize it maybe?

the fact that you have to put stars in one of those words shows that it is not equally as offensive
