Why is the group of 5 included at all?

I get it, they spring upsets every now and then mostly in meaningless bowl games the other team barely wants to be there for. But most times they get absolutely annihilated when it actually matters. Why are we catering to them by inviting them to the playoff? The Power 5 needs to be doing everything it can to distances itself from the G5 even to go as far as creating a new division similar to the split between FBS and FCS. The talent and money gap is severe. I simply have no interest in watching their games let alone essentially have at least one of their champions forced on the playoff.

Even the coaches and administrators outside the SEC want a more level playing field for all FBS teams…and it will happen.

And there is nothing better in college football than when a G5 beats a P5.

are group of 5 champs getting auto bids? because that’s outrageous.

there won’t be a single year where the mac or sunbelt champion will give any power 5 champ a competitive game.

imagine bowling green playing ohio state in a playoff game. a butt fricking of the century

More games "that matter" means more TV money.

And 16 seeds regularly get beat by 40. That doesn't take away the fact they deserved a shot.

That might not be a bad thing. There are far too many bowls in place. When you have a .500 or worse record, you shouldn't deserve to play in a bowl.

Back in the golden era of CFB, how many bowls were must watch/important in a typical year?

I have to imagine a 12 team playoff(which I’m not a fan of) will probably produce more meaningful and impactful post season CFB games.

Which would immediately be considered not the “real” playoff.

How would it be different than the FCS playoff?

Meh, they'll get one team a year based on the proposal.

Yes, because schools like Vandy, Illinois, and Wake Forrest should have an outside shot at a championship because they were around when a few select clubs were formed over a century ago at the exclusion of other programs that are far more successful...
