Not sure but apparently the Giants are at even money to sign Harper and the White Sox are -150 to sign machado

My buddy texted me that and I asked which sportsbooks had those odds to verify and he gave me names so I assumed he was telling the truth but I never went and looked

When in doubt, support the side that understands economics.

Rusillo’s latest pod discusses this and virtually none of the positional players have worked out. It was something like 80+% of the contracts were bad contracts. I didn’t realize that mlb players are so underpaid their first 6-7 years in the bigs though so I don’t necessarily blame them for asking/wanting their perceived deserving pay.

Pretty sure Scott Boras understands economics. Nobody seems to support him.

The only known offer was 10 years 300 mil by the Nats early on in the process.

Who was the player recently upset about the contracts being so low and tweeted something to the effect of why do the fans care it’s not their money?

That’s why I side with owners. I don’t blame the players for getting theirs but most don’t understand how things work

there should be no doubt and no reason why most of the market is unsigned heading into spring training.

Front offices no longer want to give out these decade long deals because they never end well. The Angels still owe Albert Pujols $87M over the next three years, including $28M going into his age "39" season (probably more like 42).

I don't think Harper is going to age particularly well and the back half of a 10 year contract might cripple whoever signs him.

Giving two 26 year old players makes more sense than giving a 31 year old Pujols.

What the Jays are doing to Vlad Jr. Is a fricking shame and wish MLB would step in. The kid has nothing to prove in the minors, he should have been up last year

I'm sure that'll get fixed in the next CBA

There is some smoke in that direction. Boy, the NL East could be a monster this year. Even without Harper, Nats are gonna be badass.
