I saw him play his entire career in televised games. Granted, in the early days not that many games were televised.

I wouldn't have him in my Top 5. Top 10, yes.

This is just untrue.... He said he had slept with 1,000 women... NO WAY..... That's a staggering # if you think about it........

I mean supposedly it was compulsive (like how Jordan had to be the best and if he wasn't in an athlete would have probably been super successful but also that guy you pointed to at work and said "dude's fricking crazy") we're talking like 3 women a night post game and often a woman pregame.

Me. I saw him on live TV during his prime about 100 times. He would dominate in today's NBA. The reason he had trouble with Russell was that Boston had a team. Wilt was the only guy on most of his teams until that 76rs team with Billy Cunningham, Wally Jones, Hal Greer, etc.

There actually used to be plenty of full game footage on Wilt Chamberlain but unfortunately the NBA acted like bitches and took them all down. This is really the only game footage I can find of Wilt. LINK

His athleticism, fluidity, movement and coordination were absurd for a man of his size. He seems pretty crude offensively though. All of his unassisted baskets looked awkward as hell. I don't know why he didn't just play like Shaq by backing Russell in and overpowering him to the basket.

I watched 5 minutes and saw 1 basket, a free throw.

The rest was brick city...I like how the rims at the Old Garden reverberated like an old playground rim after every miss.

Again based on your logic, the greatest players can only be, by definition, current players or those very recently retired.
How does that make sense?

He's got a point. If you've never seen them play a single game, what's your basis for including them in your top 5, top 10, etc.? It's the main problem I have with top whatever lists.

May to move the goal posts after your arguement got destroyed.

You said you have to see someone play to accurately rank them. Now someone who saw most of his career chimes in, all of a sudden that's not good enough for you.

There's no video footage of Wilt's 100 point game. But I know it was a good game

History, stats, championships.

Otherwise only contemporary players can be considered the greatest. That is just stupid.

Well its called experience and being at an age that when you saw a player, you could say HEY I saw HIM play.... BUT... The difference between ME and some 25 year old wanna be know it all is that I SAW IT LIVE..... Anyone wanting to PLAY about this .....Its right here.......... Not sure how old you are but I FEEL that experience tops ALL....... Highlights do NO JUSTICE.... There are SOOOOO many factors that also need to be talked about.........

He was trying to argue Wilts stats shouldn't count since it was a different era. I was asking why only consider that subjective opinion and not all the other subjective opinions that shape the way people feel about the top 5

Dude, you have to account for how many possessions teams had. The pace of play was MUCH higher than it is now. That means more shots, more assists, more everything.

Plus the people defending Wilt were a complete joke. A complete joke.
