Answer 2 - My guess would be that many of the poorer countries can't afford clocks which can be stopped when play is delayed during regulation time.
Seriously?
Congrats on being the most ignorant soccer hater on this board. You're assuming that a country who pours money into a national team can't afford a running clock? Awesome...

Answer 3 - You'll probably have better luck getting an answer on the Soccer Geeks Board, Though I don't understand why it's still up and running. What a waste of band width!!

It was a real question. I don't follow soccer. It falls somewhere just above hockey and bbelow bowling for me.
I guess a fella needs to pick up a new sport after USC got smacked with the suckhammer

What was the NOISE that sounded like an angry Bee Hive. Was it Fans or just technical difficulties.
Even though no one has answered yet, thanks for mentioning that - I was watching alone and wasn't sure if my blood presure was sky high or if my new TV might be effing with my head ! If it was technical difficulties, hard to believe they couldn't correct the situation for such a major broadcast.

Yeah, they'll need to find a replacement for real football since it's only a matter of time until Kiffin f#cks up and they're facing the dreaded death penalty.

What is the deal with that? Is this the only sport with a clock where this occurs?
No. In rugby, play continues after the time has elapsed as long as the ball is in play.
Soccer has the added time because the clock runs continuously during play. So any stoppage for injury or anything else is added on at the end. It's essentially the same as stopping the clock during play when something happens--it's just different accounting.

It's actually the dumbest thing I've seen in sports. How are teams suppose to manage their play when they have no idea when the whistle is going to blow at the end the game?
Because you don't understand something, it's dumb? Sounds like you're the dumb one...
Teams can manage because they can figure out how much stoppage time will be added based on the flow of the game. It's really not that difficult, but in order to understand it, you'll first have to actually open up your mind and give other sports a chance.

Football?

Because the refs have big bets on certain teams and they let the time go so their team can win and they make bank. Just like some of their calls, especially the won against England, WTF.

I have a bright idae. How about they change the rules where the clock stops during injuries?

if it aint broke, dont fix it.
absolutely nothing is wrong with the current system. any intelligent player, coach, or viewer knows when the game will be over.

it aint broke? I think all the Ghana players knew it was broke so every single one decided they got hurt randomly and walked very casually to throw balls in and take free kicks.

Games would end up being much longer, in 90 minutes the ball is usually only on the pitch in play for about 60-65 minutes.
I don't think most are arguing that the time should be stopped every time the ball goes out of bounds but only after:
- Goals
- Substitutions in the last 15 minutes
- All injuries
A second clock would add up the EXACT amount of time the clock was stopped for and then that EXACT amount would be added. Taking it out of the control of the same singular official who has control over the entire game.

unfortunately, we would have done the same thing (probably not the fake injuries to that extent bc the U.S. isn't like that). it's called wasting time. it happens all the time.

Bradley knew EXACTLY when that game was to be called?? Really?
Funny that the Ghana players (who apparently "knew" when the game was going to be over) were still asking for the ref to end the game.

Bad idea. Asking to change a soccer rule is like telling a soccer fan you just pulled a hot carl on their mom.

I know we would have but stopping the clock when the ball is not in play would stop 90% of that. You can have a more exact time instead of estimated time.

no not exactly, that's true.
but seriously ive been playing and watching soccer for like 13 years and it has never actually been a problem in any game ive ever seen. if it prohibits people from enjoying the game, they're just trying too hard.
