What is the deal with that? Is this the only sport with a clock where this occurs?

It's soccer, ignore it.

Estimated time added to offset delays, injuries, etc. Hence "stoppage time" or "additional time"

They add extra time at the end of the halves to make up for wasted time during injuries and other delaying tactics

im gonna be naive and assume this is a real question.
its stoppage tiime to make up for the time used up during play to stop for injuries and such.
and if youre fricking aroun d then gfy

It was a real question. I don't follow soccer. It falls somewhere just above hockey and bbelow bowling for me.

My only problem with it is that its just an estimate.

No shite, can we get an actual time?

Rugby also has a clock kept by the referee with extra "injury time" added at the end. But the game is 80 minutes instead of 90 minutes.

It's estimated time
Why can't it be exact?

why cant they just stop the clock during injuries goals etc. I mean it's not that hard to turn off and on

Agree but I think just the exact time would be implemented first and more plausible and accecptable to the purists

It is time that the ref has put on for serious stoppages of play during the half. It is used in many Euro sports.

Games would end up being much longer, in 90 minutes the ball is usually only on the pitch in play for about 60-65 minutes.

It's actually the dumbest thing I've seen in sports. How are teams suppose to manage their play when they have no idea when the whistle is going to blow at the end the game?

What was the NOISE that sounded like an angry Bee Hive. Was it Fans or just technical difficulties.

Answer 1 - It's soccer, so who cares?
Answer 2 - My guess would be that many of the poorer countries can't afford clocks which can be stopped when play is delayed during regulation time.
